General Description

The Young Adult Ministry Assistant is responsible for assisting the ministry with planning and organizing of events and other ministry needs. The Ministry Assistant is also expected to participate in the mission of the church to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee and manage the weekly Friday night service calendar, from set-up to the end of the After Hour.
  • Organize the Young Adults Volunteers each week. This includes greeters, prayer team, ProPresenter, clean-up, cooks/servers, etc.
  • Train new volunteers
  • Ideate events and offerings for young adults with the YA ministry leader.
  • Administrative responsibilities include monthly credit card and invoice reconciliation, schedule meetings, and calendar coordination for Young Adult Team.
  • Organizing materials for the annual ministry update. Gathering data from each ministry that GC supports to create annual elder report.
  • Organize the Young Adults merchandise and order as needed.
  • Provide support for the Young Adults Worship Team.
  • Provide support to the Young Adults Small Group Leaders.
  • Serve on the YA Leadership Team to support the mission of the ministry.
  • Communications and Social Media
    • Coordinate with the Communications team to manage the social media platforms and website content.
    • Utilize the website and social media.
    • Conduct social media and email blasts to Young Adults participants and volunteers.
  • Mission Trips:
    • Manage paperwork for participants (copying, creating packets, checking documents, etc.).
    • Communicating with participants on balances owed.
    • Make airline reservations and travel options for trips.
    • Help promote mission information meetings and participate in those meetings.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal person for this position is a disciple of Jesus and is actively pursuing personal change in the image of Christ. They have a deep love for God and subsequently His people. They specifically have a desire to minister to young adults. They have a strong desire to make disciples and participate in the spiritual development of other believers. They are committed to working through challenges and conflict within the church and believe in the mission of the church to make disciples of all peoples. They are organized, fulfilled by completing small tasks that support the greater mission, and will view this position primarily, not as a job, but as a calling.

Qualifications

  • A mature Christian character and a growing personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
  • Has a general knowledge of scripture.
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence and stability. Able to demonstrate a cheerful, diplomatic and caring attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Be a team player.
  • Proficient with office machinery: computers, internet search engines, copiers, phone systems, fax machines, Microsoft Office Suites. Able to become proficient quickly with additional computer programs and office machines as needed.
  • Comfortable and confident praying with people.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and responsibilities.
  • Pays close attention to detail and is deadline oriented.
