OUTDOOR FLORAL DISPLAY SPECIALIST

1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This person is responsible to provide Landscape/Horticultural services as directed by the Personal Gardener Supervisor; creating and developing seasonal displays in landscape beds and containers using potted plants, fresh cut greenery/floral supplies, and other décor also contributing to overall maintenance of residential and commercial properties according to established industry standards. In addition, this position must develop the people that report to them. Success in this position is indicated by renewed contracts, jobs completed within budgeted hours, and low negative turnover of crewmembers.

1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Communicates in a positive manner with clients, managers, supervisor and team members while projecting a professional image
• Selection of new plant material and planting at the appropriate time of year
• Creating custom outdoor planters and/or ground installation of seasonal annuals
• Continued care and maintenance of seasonal plantings, ground and planters
• Mulching, pruning and watering as directed or needed
• Handling of fertilizers, pre and post emergent herbicides
• Loading, unloading, and safe operation, of trucks, with equipment and materials
• Operating small equipment (examples – blowers, trimmers, weed eater, mower, etc.)
• Maintain assigned vehicle and equipment in good working order.
• Assist in ordering and inventory of seasonal plants and other materials used on jobsites
• Complete necessary paperwork associated with jobs as needed for billing and inventory purposes
• Supervision of 1 to 3 persons
• Estimating and scheduling jobs
• Be an active member of the training process by conducting or attending training sessions

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Ethical, dependable, honest and trustworthy
• Customer service experience
• Working knowledge of the machinery and tools used in landscape maintenance processes
• Strong attention to detail, initiative and organization
• Ability to adapt to changing assignments
• Excellent communication
• Valid Driver License required
• Experience identifying locally used plant material, especially annuals
• Experience in horticulture field of work and/or study
• Experience driving truck and trailer a plus
• Available to work Monday – Saturday with flexible work hours
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to talk, see and hear with or without reasonable accommodations
• Constant walking, bending, carrying, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, etc.

1. JOB ENVIRONMENT:

This job is mainly performed outdoors. There are temperature extremes that range from very hot and humid in the summer months to much cooler in the winter. There is some exposure to fumes, chemicals, fertilizers, dirt, dust, pollen, seeds, noise and water. It is necessary to be in good physical shape, enjoy high amounts of physical labor and be able to work in all-weather elements. This job requires mostly standing and walking, there is also an equal amount of handling large amounts of plant material and equipment. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear. Restroom facilities not available on job site.
