Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Marketing and Events Coordinator's role is to support the Resource Development department's day-to-day marketing efforts and contribute to the department's daily operations. The Marketing and Events Coordinator coordinates and implements marketing communication projects and events. This role helps to expand Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County's reach in the community by engaging supporters, volunteers, and community partners/organizations – by assisting with the overall marketing, outreach, special events, and fundraising efforts. This position also performs various functions that ensure a positive donor and volunteer experience and supports our affiliate's fundraising goals.

Essential Functions:

Events & Community Outreach

  • Participate and assist in marketing, community outreach, and fundraising functions
  • Work closely with the Development team to create an overall outreach/community engagement plan
  • Develop community partnerships while networking with other organizations, and representing Habitat at community and association events

Program Management Support & Implementation

  • Work in partnership with the Development team to provide marketing support for fundraising campaigns and annual events, including the annual Beyond the Build Luncheon and Women Build
  • Prepare annual communications and marketing plans combining annual fund, newsletter, and social media communications
  • Develop materials and written content for a variety of projects, including website, quarterly newsletters, brochures, and the annual report
  • Assist with creating written materials, including thank you letters, presentations, and proposals, etc., in order to keep a cohesive message
  • Play an active role in planning groundbreaking events, donor events, and home dedication events
  • Assist with website coordination, including updating and refreshing content and adding video and photography when needed
  • Provide marketing support to overall affiliate by producing presentations, flyers, handouts, and other materials
  • Develop and maintain a system for designing, ordering, storing, and distributing Habitat SWAG and collateral materials
  • Manage print contractors and other promotional vendors
  • Prepare donor and volunteer satisfaction surveys, and community outreach materials
  • Promote programs and events through various online and offline channels
  • Develop internal and external collateral, including fact sheets, web copy, videos, social media content, photography, and more
  • Assist with management of asset library, including multi-media (video, photography) and documents/collateral
  • Collaborate with RD team members, providing program support as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or Nonprofit Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of communications, marketing, and event experience within a nonprofit with a track record of success
  • 1-2 years of WordPress experience, graphic design experience in Adobe Suite, or another design software preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with donors and volunteers
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve goals
  • Excellent organizational skills are required. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, be detail-oriented, and work under pressure of multiple and subsequent deadlines. Attention to detail is critical in this position
  • Excellent communication skills are required, especially the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, listen actively, and engage, inspire and persuade
  • Ability to learn new business software programs, proficient in all of the Microsoft Office Suite and social media
  • Project management skills and experience required

Preferred and Other skills and experience:

  • Good working knowledge, appreciation for, and understanding of Habitat for Humanity or similar nonprofit programming and mission. Understanding of communications, marketing, and event best practices.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with an aptitude to prioritize tasks to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and provide consistent, high-quality service to a wide variety of internal and external constituents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and web editing packages.
  • Working knowledge of CMS, HTML, and design software.
  • Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position's duties is required, as is a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to work, volunteer, and build alongside donors at Habitat builds and events.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings, when necessary.
