Economic Development Operations Associate

The Metro Atlanta Chamber Economic Development Department is dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and expanding quality jobs to the 29-county metro-Atlanta region. This objective, in part, helps grow the region’s global connectivity and helps local companies find opportunities abroad. Targeted ecosystems include Life Sciences, CleanTech, Supply Chain, Creative Industries, and Technology and their subclusters. The Department does this work through various methods but relies heavily on its partners at the state, utility companies, local economic development organizations (EDOs), and educational institutions.

 

The Administrative Associate is responsible for effective day-to-day administrative support, activities, and team collaboration within the Economic Development division and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. This highly detail-oriented person will be an efficient and even-keeled multi-tasker providing general administrative support throughout the Department, with an emphasis on marketing, Global Commerce, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship projects. It is important to note that this is not an external-facing role.

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • General Support
    • Assist in the logistics of meetings, events, and conferences. Sometimes these events will involve working cross-departmentally with other teams at MAC;
      • These events may require some early morning or evening support intermittently, but our operations team works diligently to balance schedules
    • Complete Expense Reports and Budget Consolidation as needed for the Ecosystem Expansion Directors, adhering to code guidelines set by the Finance Department;
    • Adhere to confidentiality guidelines when providing project management assistance to the Project Management team;
    • Assist in the logistics of meetings and events as needed, looping the Director of Economic Development and Director of I&E into meetings/events that require C-suite level execution;
    • Verify, maintain, and update internal databases; and
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Marketing Management
    • Help create a quality assurance system to keep marketing materials up-to-date and ready to use at a moment’s notice;
    • Create and manage the yearly Economic Development marketing calendar;
    • Support the Chief Economic Development Officer through approved social media posts and strategy; and
    • Prepare and update marketing collateral for various initiatives
  • Global Commerce
    • Administrative Support for Global Commerce grant programs such as Metro Export Challenge; and
    • Process Certificate of Origins and oversee the training of interns to support these deliverables

Skills:

  • High-level critical thinking to keep up in a fast-paced environment and identify ways to take the initiative moving projects and support tasks forward efficiently
  • A passion for executive-level, rewarding administrative work
  • Advanced Computer Skills:
    • MS Excel
    • MS Office Series
    • CRM experience is a plus but not required
    • Research database experience is a plus but not required
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills
  • Impeccable organization skills
  • Ability to prioritize changing requests with flexibility and accuracy while supporting two arms of the Chamber
  • Team player posed to assist other departments and Chamber staff
