The Metro Atlanta Chamber seeks a candidate to fill a director position within the Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E) department.  I&E works collaboratively to build Metro Atlanta’s innovation capacity and pursue our strategic objective to be a globally leading inclusive innovation hub.  MAC I&E supports this strategy by helping connect, grow, and promote the regions innovation ecosystem.  Within MAC, this role will work closely with a variety of departments including Economic Development, Marketing, Public Affairs, Investor Relations, and Economic Research.  Across metro Atlanta, this role will work with the startup, entrepreneurship, corporate innovation, creative and higher education community.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, facilitate or support key external councils, advisory boards and committees that convene a cross section of metro Atlanta’s innovation ecosystem.  This includes the Corporate Innovation Council, I&E Advisory Board and others.
  • Lead, support or enable MAC supported strategic initiatives in the ecosystem such as ATL Unlocked, Backed by ATL and others.
  • Support and contribute to strategies and initiatives that increases venture capital capacity and access to capital.
  • Support strategies and partnerships that drives inclusive innovation in the region.
  • Develop and support programs that support our high growth mid-market businesses.
  • Connect and grow our corporate innovation community.
  • Contribute to marketing and other initiatives that position metro Atlanta as a global innovation hub. 
  • Build and maintain alliances with organizations integral to Atlanta’s innovation ecosystem such as incubators, accelerators, industry support organizations, and centers of influence in the business community
  • Represent the Metro Atlanta Chamber at relevant innovation and entrepreneurship meetings, events, and conferences

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 7 or more years of experience working in the innovation ecosystem with increasing responsibility and strong business acumen.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Subject matter expertise in areas such as corporate innovation, private investment/venture capital, entrepreneurship, innovation policy and/or innovation at higher education institutions.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with strong analytical skills.
  • Track record of building coalitions of diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-directed and motivated with ability to work independently and as the member of a team.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to build positive relationships in the community, and motivate and manage volunteers, including senior executives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
