Role Summary:
The Learning and Development Manager will develop and administer the Learning and Development program for the company.
Scope of the Position:
The Learning and Development Manager will support 375+ employees at 4+ Alabama and Tennessee locations and manage a team of 1-3 employees. The office will be based at the Huntsville Meridian Street location. This position requires <25% travel to job sites.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities expected of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop, implement and track annual learning and development programs to align with business goals
- Conduct organization-wide needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps and recommend solutions
- Work closely with subject matter experts, department leaders, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure learning content accuracy and relevance
- Foster an inclusive and participatory learning environment that encourages active engagement and knowledge retention
- Establish and maintain learning plans for all positions
- Recommend appropriate learning methods or activities (e.g. simulations, e-learning, mentoring, on-the-job training, professional development classes)
- Design, prepare and order educational aids and materials
- Maintain learning management system and records
- Host train-the-trainer sessions for internal subject matter experts
- Prepare reports for senior leadership team with the outcomes of learning and development efforts
- Support emerging leader and management learning initiatives as required
- Partner with business leaders and health and safety representative to ensure required safety training is administered
- Evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and make recommendations for improvement
- Create and deliver an annual calendar outlining all training requirements
- Schedule and conduct a quarterly conversation with each direct report as required
Position Qualifications:
- Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
- Progressive knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools
- Computer skills including MS Office
- Excellent presentation skills
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Ability to implement new processes and motivate others
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Flexibility to cover multiple shifts
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field, preferred
- Minimum of five to seven years of experience in a Learning and Development role in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience coordinating multiple training events in a corporate setting
