Summer Camp Counselor

Annunciation Orthodox School (AOS) seeks qualified candidates for Summer Camp Counselors to work with children 3 years old - 8th grade from 8:30 AM - 4:15 PM, Monday-Friday. Summer Camp Counselors help to support a flexible program and create an environment favorable to learning and personal growth. They bring a creative and energetic quality and encourage children to learn through activities and experiences.

Reports to: Director of Extended Day

Status: Part-time/Hourly

Work Schedule:

  • Staff Training: Tuesday-Friday 8:30 AM - 3:45 PM May 30 - June 2, 2023

  • Camp Program: Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 4:15 PM June 5 - 23 & July 10 - 28, 2023

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of students in order to meet the intended outcomes

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for students and staff

  • Apply youth development principles in working with students through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth

  • Act as a role model to students and staff in attitude and behavior

  • Build relationships with students and families who utilize the summer camp program.

  • Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their children

  • Actively participate in all program areas as assigned

  • Provide for a progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities

  • Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance

Summer Camp Counselor

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required

  • Experience working with children in an after care, summer camp or similar environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and families
