Position Objective:

The Family Camp Youth Band leads worship for all youth programs at Family Camp and several additional sessions, as well as models a genuine Christian lifestyle to youth campers, and nurtures spiritual growth in order to lead students one step closer to Jesus, in a manner consistent with Mount Hermon’s mission, vision, and values.

Applicants must have music training and experience; it is preferred if they have prior experience being part of a band. All members must apply separately for this position.

General Qualifications:

The Family Camp Youth Band is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships, and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon’s mission, vision, and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating, and leading Mount Hermon’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Work as a team with the Family Ministries Youth Intern to develop engaging worship experiences for students.
  • Lead worship sets for all youth programs.
  • Lead Intergen Worship on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.
  • Coordinate with Family Ministry Team Leads to facilitate worship for meetings
  • Help develop a warm and welcoming environment for all students
  • Be flexible in order to serve as needed during program, activities as directed by Family Camp leadership
  • Counsel for youth programs if numbers require
  • Participate in bonus jobs with other departments on the mountain, to be assigned.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • High school graduate.
  • College experience, preferred 2 years.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified.

Work Experience:

  • Prior or current experience working with youth students.
  • Prefer prior experience in leadership roles.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to play guitar, bass, piano, or drums and to lead students in musical worship in a relevant and interactive manner.
  • Love for youth of all ages is essential; capable of providing strong Christian role model.
  • Ability to articulate the Gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • Ability to engage in active listening.
  • Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
  • A heart to serve whenever needed.
  • Ability to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.

Physical Demands:

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires hearing, talking, sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and hiking.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirement for onsite community living.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s mission, vision, values, and commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provideproof of eligibility to work in the United States.
