Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School (AoH) Career and Workforce Programming

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Healthcare Program Coordinator serves as the overseer in the planning, development, implementation, administration, evaluation and expansion of AoH Healthcare programs as well as the instruction of students enrolled in the program. The Healthcare Program Coordinator will be overseeing the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Phlebotomy Training Programs and will help to create new healthcare certification programs. The position will ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal instructional guidelines and commitment to the philosophy and mission of AoH.

 

The Healthcare Program Coordinator works closely with the workforce, student support, high school diploma and college services, academic and admissions teams.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination:

  • Coordinates comprehensive CNA and Phlebotomy (Allied health programs) training and certification programs and facilities.
  • Works closely with Senior Employment Specialist that is responsible for healthcare caseloads to ensure full program and student support. Identify challenges and provide timely interventions when needed.
  • In cooperationwith Director of Workforce, orients, evaluates performance, and providesleadership to the instructors.
  • Initiates, monitors, and manages contractual agreements between educational and clinical facilities
  • Provides lead supportin developing new allied healthprograms
  • Creates a supportive, empowering learning environment for adult learners and delivers quality content area instruction
  • Teaches (lecture/presentations/quizzes/homework) CNA students from the established curriculum (Hartman’s Nursing Assistant Care Long-Term Care)
  • Supports and coaches all CNA and Phlebotomy instructors as well as future healthcare instructors.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts, instructors and healthcare professionals to insure alignment with industry standards, best practices, regulatory requirements and training standards.

 

  • Evaluates and documents students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills (interpersonal, technical, clinical, and classroom)
  • Assists in the pre-screening/interviewing of all healthcare candidates
  • Maintains confidential, accurate, and comprehensive records of students (attendance, grades, prerequisites, and skills assessments) per DC board of nursing regulations and AoH guidelines.
  • Ensures that students learn to treat residents, families, and other members of the health care team with the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individual’s needs and rights.
  • Maintains efficient and effective use of all supplies and equipment.
  • Orders supplies/equipment and textbooks/handbooks and maintains and tracks inventory.
  • Engages in regular effective communication with students, staff, and other stakeholders
  • Remains current on state and federal regulations and training standards
  • Maintains a clean/safe environment conducive to learning (classroom and skills lab)
  • Collaborates with DC Board of Nursing and attends monthly meetings as indicated
  • Assists students with registering for state board exams
  • Collaborates with clinical site and maintains valid contracts
  • Participates regularly in AoH staff, committee and team meetings.
  • Maintains AoH CNA training program approval status with DC Board of Nursing
  • Orients new instructors to AOH Healthcare training programs (Phlebotomy and CNA as well as new programs) and ensure proper onboarding processes are met.
  • Cultivates relationships with healthcare facilities, employers, professional associations, and regulatory agencies to facilitate clinical placements, externships, and job opportunities for program graduates.
  • Collaborates with industry partners to stay abreast of workforce needs, trends, and emerging opportunities for program enhancement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Data Management and Tracking:

  • Maintains accurate up to date attendance reports in Salesforce database.
  • Continually update student challenges in Salesforce and include proper staff needed (ex. Student support) for support.
  • Tracks and reports on every student contact in SIS. (date, status, follow up, narrative, updates)
  • Works with Director of Career and Workforce services to ensure school wide data validity.
  • Meets with Director of Career and Workforce Services regularly to ensure we are meeting required program targets and create reactivation plan if off-target.
  • Prepares monthly/quarterly reports on student progress and other reports as needed for Director of Career and Workforce Services
  • Provides timely interventions.
  • Returns phone calls within 24 hours and react to situations in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and evaluates learners’ progress.

Healthcare Program Coordinator -- RN

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current registered nurse licensure by the District of Columbia State Board of Nursing.
  • BSN required

Experience:

  • Minimum of (4) years of teaching experience required
  • Minimum of (5) years full-time or equivalent clinical experience required
  • Completed 16 hours of CNA Train the Trainer course (adult learning)

Required Licensure/Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse License in DC

Computer/Technology Skills:

  • Must have solid technical skills Previous experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite required.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of nursing related to the material required to present
  • Demonstrated communication skills necessary to explain complex medical and scientific concepts in a manner that’s easy to understand and provide written feedback on student assignments
  • High-level interpersonal skills to give constructive feedback and serve as trusted advisor for students
  • Creative problem-solving ability to address issues that arise due to student performance or overcome obstacles to delivering established curriculum.

  • This position will sit in an open/shared office environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position is currently working a hybrid model, telework and on-site. Schedule will be determined by Senior Leadership Team
