Description

Position Objective:

Videographers are responsible for shooting, setting activities, guests and events to accurately capture the ministry of the Conference Center, Kidder Creek, Redwood Camp and Ponderosa Lodge through videos in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values.

The Videographer works directly with the camp director specific to their site, the site Media Manager, the MHA Marketing Digital Media Manager, the site specific Photographer, and other site videographers and is supported by the site specific Summer Staff community and the Marketing department.

General Qualifications:

The Videographer is aMinisterialposition.Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (MHA) mission, vision and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Work with Media Manager and MHA’s Marketing Digital Media Manager to film, edit and produce weekly videos for camps.
  • Tag and catalog all video footage taken.
  • Work on promotional video for summer program.
  • Maintain inventory of video camera and editing equipment and supplies; report any damage or poorly working equipment to Marketing Digital Media Manager immediately.
  • Support other on staff photographers and videographers with equipment, photo/video coverage, ideas, critique, transportation, troubleshooting and shot planning.
  • Attend all summer staff and department meetings and events.
  • Actively engage and help build the summer staff community with your attitude, words, and actions.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • High school graduate.
  • College experience.
  • Formal videography training is preferred, but not required.
  • Current valid driver’s license and a clean driving record required.

Work Experience:

  • Experience and aptitude in filming and editing a variety of subjects, where people, their activities, and their interactions are the primary focus.
  • A body of video work that demonstrates a growing understanding of both the technical and creative sides of videography: light, composition, subject, moment, context, story, and emotion.
  • Experience and aptitude in Videography/Photography workflows and editing. Adobe Premiere and Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.
  • Experience and aptitude developing posts and engaging stories with photos for social media and other platforms.
  • Experience with Macintosh platform and Canon cameras and lenses is helpful but not required.
  • Experience working with professional level photography equipment preferred but not required.
  • Experience and aptitude with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work comfortably with the tools of videography, specifically modern, professional level bodies, lenses, and related equipment.
  • Understanding of videography fundamentals.
  • Ability to capture a variety of subject matter including people, action sports, events, every-day life, large groups and individuals, nature and environmental b-roll.
  • Ability to tell a story and describe an event through video.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding workflow, along as well as in a team.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability and desire to receive feedback and incorporate it into future work.
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through with tasks punctually and with high degree of quality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
  • Ability to engage creativity and artistic abilities within camp setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.

  • Must be observant and attentive.
  • Ability to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.

Physical Demands:

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, hiking on varied terrain, swimming, climbing, and shouting.
  • Ability to lift/carry anywhere from 15 to over 30 lbs., and engage in general physical play with children and students.
  • Position also requires ability to hear, speak and see clearly in adverse conditions.
  • Requires participation in roped adventure activities, and other activities involving height.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirement for onsite community living.
