Job Summary

Assistant Golf Professionals provide customer service in the golf shop while assisting the head golf professional with daily operations, programs, special events and golf shop merchandising. This position is also responsible for opening and closing procedures for the clubhouse and golf shop in accordance with facility security and cash-handling standards. Employment for this position runs from early March through mid November.


Facility Information

Heritage Oaks Golf Club, formerly Sportsman’s Country Club, is a 27-hole public golf property owned and operated by the Northbrook Park District. Facilities re-opened in August 2021 after course renovation and new clubhouse construction. Renovations include reconstruction of Classic 18 greens, addition of forward tees on all 27-holes, as well as drainage, shaping and re-grassing of all playable surfaces on both courses. The newly constructed clubhouse includes a 1,100 square foot golf shop, a dining room with full-service bar and a private event room. The clubhouse also has a 12-month indoor golf room with two Full Swing Golf simulators. The practice facility is equipped with Trackman® technology and serves as home to the Northbrook Golf Academy.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons.
  • Execute daily operations of the golf shop; assists customers with green fee check-in and merchandise sales, handles payment and point-of-sales software; assists with merchandise displays.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for the golf shop; cash-handling, balances daily sales.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special events, outings, tournaments, and league play.
  • Provide golf instruction through group clinics and youth camps with the Northbrook Golf Academy in accordance with established schedules and fee structures.
  • Follow all rules and regulations that govern golf course usage and safety procedures.
  • Follow safe work practices.
Job Qualifications

Must have experience with golf customer service or similar recreation field. A valid Illinois driver's license is required. Experience with group instruction is preferred as the candidate will have opportunity to assist group instructional programs with the Northbrook Golf Academy.
