Position Objective:

The Bookshop Associate sells and promotes a variety of merchandise while keeping MHA Stores clean and orderly to ensure customers receive excellent service in a welcoming environment in a manner consistent with MHA's mission, vision and values.

General Qualifications:

The Bookshop Associate is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (MHA) Christian mission, vision, beliefs, culture code and standards of conduct. They are responsible for defining, cultivating and leading MHA’s Christian community, conference programs and retreats.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Greet and assist Bookshop guests and complete sales transactions at point of sale at MHA camps to create a hospitable shopping environment for customers.
  • Receive and stock books and merchandise in such a manner as to create a neat and orderly shop.
  • Operate computer software to reconcile daily sales.
  • Drive to other MHA camp stores for restocking, cleaning, and organizing clothing and merchandise to create neat and orderly shops.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

  • None

Qualifications

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • College experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Work Experience:

  • Customer service experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Observant and attentive.
  • Ability to articulate gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, etc.
  • Some lifting required - up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires standing for long periods.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirements for onsite community living.
  • Will be assigned a secondary role.
  • Must agree to and comply with MHA's employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and use of personal vehicles for business purposes.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provideproof of eligibility to work in the United States.
