Our intention is to provide an opportunity for students to use and build upon existing skills, expand their experience, and do meaningful work while learning from our diverse professional staff that is culturally and gender responsive. We are seeking interns to join our team of caring and compassionate professionals who strive to make a difference in the lives of the clients we serve. Additional Intern Trainings facilitated by our Leadership team at Wellmore on the following topics: Suicide Risk Assessment, CBT, Diagnosis, ASAM.

Wellmore, Inc. is one of the largest behavioral health and substance use providers in western Connecticut, serving 43 towns in northwestern Connecticut. As a private, non-profit company, Wellmore operates with 260+ employees, 10 sites, and serves approximately 10,000+ clients annually. Wellmore offers client-centered interventions that are developmentally appropriate, evidence-based, solution-focused, and trauma-informed.

 

Adult services hosts Bachelor Level interns at three locations, The Woman & Children’s Program, The Therapeutic Shelter, and Adult Outpatient. Interns at Wellmore facilitate Psycho-Educational groups on their own and are responsible for the documentation associated with the service. The intern would hold a caseload of clients that would benefit from support with case management. This could include connection to outside resources, engaging in detox or other residential facilities, and assisting with achieving vocational or educational goals. The Intern is invited to participate in our Clinical Rounds and Team meetings/trainings and is viewed as a member of the multi- disciplinary team. Interns would assist in the screening of new referrals and assist with the admission process for these individuals. Interns may be involved with discharge planning with active clients and supporting them in developing individualized aftercare plans. Interns will complete their placement at Wellmore competent with facilitating educational group sessions, develop case management skills, gain experience with working with an electronic health record and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • We accept bachelor level students enrolled in an accredited academic program.
  • Internships are available in our Adult Division Residential Programs.
  • Internships are limited so we will only consider applications from students majoring in Social Work, Human Services, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of any employment visa, including CPT/OPT.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • In addition to completing the application and providing an updated resume, please upload one letter of recommendation from your current professor as well as unofficial transcripts.
  • Placement offers are contingent upon a clear background check, including DCF, drug screen and the completion of ALL required onboarding prior to starting at Wellmore.
  • Students will need to complete a physical examination, PPD (Tuberculosis test) and HPE (work assessment test) completed prior to starting (Paid for by Wellmore.)

Internship Specific:

  • Minimum commitment of six (6) months for bachelor level internships; Candidates must be able to commit to the entire term.
  • Term: 20 weeks; 160 Total hours
  • All Adult programming is located in Waterbury, CT
  • You must have reliable transportation and be able to adhere to your scheduled on-site hours. No telehealth or virtual internship opportunities are available. 
  • ALL internships are Non-Paid.
