Description

As a maintenance technician, your responsibility is to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all production machinery, equipment, and instrumentation in order to sustain plant operations at highly efficient levels. This includes mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and fluid handling systems.

You must be able to read and understand blueprints, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic prints and diagrams, and ladder logic programs. You should be proficient in using hand, power, shop, and diagnostic tools. In addition, you must be able to coordinate multiple jobs effectively and handle detailed and broad range projects. You will need to meet deadlines, be detail-oriented, and work with minimal supervision, including working flexible hours.

Good communication skills are necessary, both in reading, writing, comprehension, and following complicated verbal and/or written instructions. You must be able to stoop, bend and stand on a frequent basis, and lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds. You should be physically able to climb ladders, stairs, crawl through manholes, work on roofs, and in tanks.

Your duties will also include installing and modifying production equipment and machinery. You will need to document project activities and prepare appropriate operating standards and/or maintenance procedures for all equipment and processes. You will also be required to complete documentation processes for machinery usage, equipment maintenance, and purchases, as well as maintain the cleanliness of the maintenance equipment shop and appropriate inventory of maintenance supplies.

To qualify for this position, you must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in packaging and process equipment line maintenance of machinery in a food or beverage manufacturing facility. You should be PC literate and have experience using email and calendar outlook. You must be skilled in electrical power/controls, mechanical and fluid handling systems, and have knowledge of production line packaging and filling equipment.

As a maintenance technician, you must be a self-starter, able to conceptualize and drive initiatives forward. You must have a positive attitude and be motivated by contributing to the overall success of the team. You will need to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and have creative problem-solving skills. Obsessive attention to detail, being well-organized, and able to juggle many projects at once is a must. You should be comfortable moving at a fast pace and in ambiguous environments and willing to address difficult situations head-on with patience and respect.
