Community Builder- Resident and Business Services

TCC Resident and Business Engagement Project Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Community Outreach Responsibilities

    • Build and leverage relationships with community influencers (i.e. trusted community organizations and partners), resource providers (i.e. economic, community, government) and collaboratives/membership organizations to maximize and support community engagement and outreach for the TCC Project.

    • Conduct regular resident and business engagement and outreach efforts including canvassing the TCC area to connect with neighborhood groups and residents; tabling at community events, participation in community meetings with TCC Partners and other community convenings.

    • Make presentations at regular and special community meetings, services and/or events hosted by community partners, organizations, associations, networks, groups and municipalities.

    • Respond to calls to the Virtual Community Hotline

    • Co-organize three (3) Community Arts and Culture Events per year within the TCC Area with local residents

    • Coordinate with EBPREC on an ongoing basis to review strategy, and provide leads about resident groups and businesses/entrepreneur groups that need anti-displacement support and/orare not showing up to participate in community engagement, and may need EB PREC's attention and outreach.

    • Support EBPRECs Housing Cafes and Legal Cafes regarding appropriate timing and location

    • Connect local residents and businesses with appropriate TCC Project Partners and Programs and available Assistance programs.

    • Identify Community Volunteers, Interns and Ambassador candidates for BCZ programs and initiatives.

  • TCC Stakeholder Committee Responsibilities

    • BCZ Community Builders will recommend a slate of representatives to the TCC Stakeholder Committee

    • Facilitate TCC Stakeholder Committee Meetings and a participatory budgeting process to allocate funding to support Committee priorities

    • Schedule periodic Check-In Sessions with Committee Members to maintain a robust communication and feedback loop regarding the TCC Project; track Committee and community concerns related to outreach and engagement for the TCC Project; and improve community awareness, connection to and engagement with TCC Projects and transformative elements.

    • Conduct annual review of feedback from the Community Stakeholder Committee, and report to the city and Community Stakeholder committee as required

  • Administrative Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a database with information that tracks individual progress and outcomes.

    • Submit all required and/or requested documentation/reports/paperwork by assigned due dates

    • Administer TCC Stakeholder Committee including meeting preparation, recording and reporting.

    • Meet performance goals and demonstrate behaviors of the BCZs Operating Agreements for the TCC Grant Program

    • Act as a backup for other Community Builder as needed

    • Performs other duties as assigned by Team Lead(s)

Required Qualifications

  • 4 - 6 years of experience coordinating or executing community development programs in a professional setting OR Possession of a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field

  • Experience working in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities; demonstrated cultural competency

  • Strong oral communication skills, listening, and writing skills

  • Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented and conscientious.

  • Passionate about supporting the local community.

  • 3 to 5 years of local (Oakland & Alameda County) Residential, Financial and/or Technical Assistance Ecosystem Experience and demonstrated success working in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities; demonstrated cultural competency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lives in or from East Oakland, CA (below High St.)

  • Bilingual- Spanish
