Extruder Operator 1

Job Title: Extruder Operator 1

Reports To: Extruder Team Lead

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Summary: Responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining the extrusion process and equipment to ensure continuous efficient manufacturing of foam

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Raw material handling and filling.

  • Thorough and accurate paperwork completed and capable of following production schedule.

  • Operation all extrusion auxiliary equipment. Downstream equipment, raw material preparation equipment, and raw material feed equipment.

  • Capable of consistently producing quality foam and operating with the correct formulas.

  • Reacting to production line down scenarios and being able to resume production safely and quickly. Fixing feed jams and alignments.

  • Basic operation of the extruder controls. Following basic formulas and charts.

  • Extruder die handling and cleaning.

  • Responsible for recording extruder settings to ensure consistency and customer specific modifications are met.

  • Basic Process Diagnostics.

  • Performs inspections of product to verify quality standards.

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean working environment.

  • Willingness to be trained on forklift and other extruder equipment as necessary.

  • Soft skills as defined in position matrix.

Education/Experience:

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required. Valid driver’s license is also required. Previous experience with extrusion is preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management.

Math Ability:

Ability to do basic math in all units of measure.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
