TITLE: Bartender 
 

FUNCTION: 
Serves as a bartender for Chevy Chase Country Club.  Responsibilities include providing set-ups, breakdowns and preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Ensures that all events are conducted and fulfilled in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives of the Wheeling Park District and Chevy Chase Country Club.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two to three years experience as a bartender. 
- High School diploma desired, but not necessary.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and confidentiality.
- Must be TIPS/BASSET certified or able to obtain certification within 60 days
- Must have Safe Food Handler Certification or able to obtain within 60 days.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have the ability to speak, read and write in basic English.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collects and interprets all paperwork generated for the event being worked.
  • Inspects bar area prior to opening and ensures that adequate supplies are available for the impending shift.
  • Prepares garnishes, mixes, pre-mixed drinks and completes set-up requirements.
  • Mixes, prepares and serves drinks according to recipes approved by management.
  • Collects money. Maintains records of all bar-stock items using provided inventory sheets in each bar and stock rooms.
  • Uses POS system to record cash/inventory transactions. At shift end, reconciles cash to orders taken.
  • Maintains and cleans all equipment.  Cleans and secures station in accordance with established closing procedures.
  • Consistently complies with the state, local and agency laws/policies regarding the sale and disposition of alcoholic beverages. 
  • Answers any questions from guests about the function and be able to provide descriptions of the day including the time line of the function and what food and beverage is available and being served. 
  • Personal appearance conveys to the public a general impression of the facility. It is the responsibility of every employee to be properly attired and neatly groomed. Name tags and uniforms must be worn at all times. 
  • Be able to work any bar in facility as directed by management. Including, but not limited to the Grand Ballroom, Devonshire Room, Gable Room and mobile bars.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Work as scheduled.
  • Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.

HOURS: 
Part time - Must be available weekends and evenings. 16 - 32 hours per week. 

RATE OF PAY: 13.00 + Gratuities

BENEFITS: Part-Time Staff receive an Individual Outdoor Pool Membership and an Individual Health & Fitness Membership (which includes use of the indoor pool) during the employment period.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

SAFETY: Conducts all work in a safe manner, including using personal protective equipment and safety devices as required; identifies and reports any real or potential safety hazards.
Ensures participation and compliance with required and optional relevant employee training programs as defined by OSHA and PDRMA.
Collaborates on the development and then implements Emergency Response Plans for assigned areas of responsibility.
Oversees the investigation of critical safety incidents or accidents and develops appropriate response for assigned areas of responsibility.
Anticipates and plans for potential safety issues when planning programs, activities or special events.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing of printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities.
Position involves kneeling, stopping, bending, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. This can occur throughout the day.
This position will alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate and with proper lighting, to an outdoors setting with variable climate and lighting.
Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented and with good reasoning skills.
Must be able to adapt to the climate with marked changes in temperature from the heat in the kitchen area to the cold of refrigerated areas.
Must be able to transport oneself throughout the project site including but not limited to the golf course, golf shop, Gable Room, Devonshire and Grand Ballroom.
Must have sufficient mathematical skills to accommodate cashier functions.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances.
Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment, which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.
Must be able to work in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled area sufficient in size to allow freedom of movement to accomplish tasks. May also be exposed to the outdoor elements in an uncontrolled temperature with carried lighting.
