The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is adding a Senior Philanthropic Advisor to our outstanding team!  The Senior Philanthropic Advisor reports to the Director of Individual and Planned Giving and serves as the lead for major gifts in the northern region, including our Green Bay and Door County Campuses. Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Cultivate strong relationships to inspire potential high-impact donors, with primary focus on Green Bay and Door County areas. 
  • Serve as the sole major gifts officer working with individual donors in our northern region.
  • Develop cultivation strategies for, solicit, and steward an assigned portfolio of approximately 150 individual donors capable of giving $1,000 or more, including securing five- to six-figure gifts.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward potential capital campaign supporters and planned giving relationships in both Green Bay and Door County areas
  • Work closely with Director of Individual and Planned Giving and VP of Development to design and implement strategy for capital campaign gifts.
  • Manage personal donor relations data entry, gift forecasting, and prospect research.
  • Develop, implement, and share effective approaches to fundraising for WHS, ensuring the profitability of revenue-generating fundraising activities according to budget and organizational philosophy and guidelines.
  • Other fundraising support duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

The Senior Philanthropic Advisor will be a positive, professional, and team-oriented individual with the following experience and attributes:

  • Five to seven years of experience working in a non-profit fundraising role with progressive responsibility for the management of philanthropic development programming. Bachelor’s degree preferred; CFRE desirable. Understanding of moves management and proven track record for securing five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Previous experience managing or soliciting for a capital campaign desired.
  • Experience with philanthropic giving in Green Bay and Door County communities desired.
  • Approaches donor work with confidence and patient persistence in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative, solutions-based approach to the work.
  • Technology savvy with prior Raiser’s Edge or similar donor database experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel regularly for donor meetings and to the Green Bay and Door County Campuses, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.

The Wisconsin Humane Society is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin.  Founded in 1879, WHS operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, youth and outreach programs, veterinary resources for the community, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the state's busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
