Description

Join our team as an Inclusion Assistant and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young children with special needs. Work closely with the Senior Manager of Disability and Inclusion, providing on-site support in inclusive classrooms for children aged 3-5. We seek passionate individuals dedicated to creating inclusive environments and supporting each child's unique needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to children with special needs, helping with language expression, social skills, friendship building, and emotional regulation.
  • Maintain an organized calendar for classroom visits and collaborate with the Inclusion team for effective communication.
  • Foster cooperation and support within teaching teams, following lead teachers' guidance.
  • Assist with caregiving duties, classroom clean-up, meals, and breaks as required.
  • Review and implement weekly lesson plans, ensuring consistency and adherence to protocols.
  • Observe and document children's interests, strengths, and behaviors for comprehensive understanding and prepare engaging projects, games, books, and movement activities to enhance learning experiences.
  • Attending Inclusion meetings, sharing progress and concerns for children on your caseload.
  • Collaborate on action plans, reporting observations and progress during inclusion meetings.
  • Adapt curriculum and routines to meet individual needs, utilizing visual supports and adaptive tools.
  • Ensure children's health and safety by following procedures.
  • Create a warm, nurturing, and respectful atmosphere that encourages growth.
  • Greet families and staff with professionalism, providing regular check-ins with target families.

Qualifications

 

  • Spanish/English Bilingual proficiency is preffered.
  • Minimum of 12 ECE units with an associate permit.
  • Preferred experience with children on the Autism Spectrum and challenging behavior.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child development and appropriate practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, showing initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to travel to different sites.
  • Warm and welcoming demeanor with a genuine desire to provide compassionate 1:1 care.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Strong organizational, observation, and documentation skills.
  • Creative and resourceful in implementing engaging activities.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, attending weekly Inclusion meetings.
