Description

The Family Involvement Center is looking for a full time Trauma Specialist- Master’s level Counselor or Social Worker to provide trauma counseling services for children, adults and families.

Clients will be referred from variety of sources arising from a SAMSHA grant targeting children, adults and families who have experienced trauma and are not yet connected to treatment.Extensive experience in Trauma Informed Care and Trauma specific therapy approaches as well as adherence to the core principles of the Recovery Model including engagement in community treatment services and supporting participants to achieve their self-identified goals for treatment, recovery, rehabilitation, and success is paramount to the position.

Counselor will be assigned to clients from vulnerable or under-served populations and who may or may not have involvement with a variety of systems (Probation, DDD, DCS) and/ or are addressing their own mental health needs. Some Case Management and intake assessing is inherent in the position.

In addition to individual and family counseling responsibilities, this person will do some counseling, skills training groups and psycho-educational groups.

Qualifications

  • Strong counseling skills including trauma specific approaches.
  • Knowledge of covered behavioral health services, of licensing requirements, of contract requirements, and of HIPAA rules and regulations; and their application to Family Involvement Center programs and service operations
  • A clear understanding of the Recovery Model for adults and the Children’s Behavioral Health Arizona Vision and Principles,
  • A clear understanding of Adult Recovery Team and the Child and Family Team (or “wraparound”) process.
  • The ability to collaborate with others, to work in team settings (e.g. to design, implement, assess performance of and refine processes and systems).
  • Ability to recognize and respect key cultural considerations for families (bilingual skills are valued).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and other basic office software applications
  • Ability to work independently and creatively
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, handling frequent changes with flexibility, and working on multiple tasks at once
  • Experience navigating behavioral health and/or other public systems of care in a role of parent/guardian or primary caregiver is a valued asset.
  • Work with Adult Care Coordinators on issues of coordination between departments and quality improvement efforts.
  • Preferred qualification as a behavioral health professional or in pursuit of.

Master’s level Degree in associated field required

Must have reliable transportation with insurance and registration. The position will also work with other Family Involvement Center Programs on issues of coordination between departments, outreach and quality improvement efforts.

Must have or obtain CPR/1st Aid Training, Finger Print Clearance and background clearance. Preference to those licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (LMSW, LAMFT, LAC, LASAC, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LISAC). Bilingual is preferred but not required. Salary 55-60K
