Description

The Food Depository works intentionally through partnership to break down barriers of nutrition access for specific populations. The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively to support the design, implementation and logistics management of targeted food access programs that meet the needs of older adults.

The Food Depository partners with older adult community centers, residential buildings, and community organizations to address food and nutrition security amongst older adults and ensure they have access to the healthy food they need. The Government Programs Coordinator – Older Adults will mainly support home delivery and nutrition programming, while providing administrative support to other elements of Older Adult programs.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Distribute Farmers Market coupon booklets in various community locations, indoors and outdoors
  • Provide customer service to older adults regarding the application process and coupon redemption process
  • Ensure applications for the program are completed thoroughly and correctly
  • Provide training and technical assistance to partners serving older adults
  • Access to a vehicle required
  • Schedule may slightly change weekly, but will be informed of schedule at least 2 weeks in advance, if not more.
  • Role will be in the field across Chicago 50-75% of the time (mileage will be reimbursed)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

This is a part time (20hrs/wk) seasonal position; July - end of September

Qualifications

•    1+ years of experience in relationship management, project management, program implementation, and/or community organizing.

•    Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications, specifically Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new software programs and online platforms.

•    High level of interpersonal and communications (including verbal, written, and presentation) skills including clear, persuasive, and dynamic communication skills across individual, small group and large audience settings.

•    Strong orientation towards customer service.

•    Ability to work independently and proactively in a fluid environment, lead projects, meet multiple concurrent deadlines, and organize time and priorities.

•    Must be passionate about meeting the needs of older adults and underserved communities.

•    Must be comfortable working with diverse populations in various Cook County neighborhoods.

•    Must have access to a working vehicle, with valid insurance and possess a valid Illinois driver’s

license.

•    Knowledge of the landscape of older adult work within Cook County, preferred.

•    Bilingual Spanish, strongly preferred

 

EXPOSURE:

•    Normal office environment; some warehouse environment.

•    Hybrid work environment, with minimum two days per week in office

•    Mainly out of office meetings and events

•    Some evening and weekend work may be required depending on events

•    Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Cook County
