Summary

Receives direction from Maintenance Supervisor and Master Plumber for day-to-day plumbing needs and other maintenance/facility activities. The Journeyman Plumber (JP) possesses a vast degree of knowledge and expertise to effectively maintain a myriad of plumbing systems and perform preventative maintenance actions to keep systems in peak operating condition. The JP keeps current on Continuing Education courses to ensure applicable plumbing license(s) are up to date. The JP will accomplish all tasks related to ongoing operations, predicable upkeep/preventative maintenance programs for all Ark Encounter facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
  • Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done.
  • Journeyman Plumber is responsible for all plumbing systems for the building, outdoor restrooms, and zoo plumbing fixtures. Aids the Maintenance Supervisor to maintain and repair HVAC systems, plumbing, propane systems, LP, and Pneumatic systems.
  • Assist with daily maintenance of equipment, troubleshoots, and provide preventative maintenance, and maintains efficiency and safety of equipment.
  • Accomplish tasks relating to the ongoing operations and preventative maintenance schedule for the whole Ark Encounter facility.
  • Perform repairs, replacements, preventative, and corrective maintenance on equipment and facility assets.
  • Identify and assess key areas for possible improvement, involving the facility maintenance.
  • Routinely inspects and maintains the building and grounds plumbing assets.
  • Maintains a secure, clean and organized work area.
  • Participates in all relevant training and staff meetings.
  • Assist in housekeeping efforts as needed.
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned
  • And all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Familiar with skills in the following areas: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, fabrication, hydraulics, painting, and general housekeeping duties.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise works being performed utilizing volunteers.
  • Must be dependable and adapt to changing work priorities with ease.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • Physical exertion requiring standing and walking all day, repeated bending and lifting, ability to lift up to 40+ lbs.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals supplies and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in ceilings/tunnels, walk, crawl and work in cramped quarters, operate lift tools, small equipment and construction related pieces of equipment, man lifts, and snow removal equipment.
  • Assist with plans, budgets and schedules for facility maintenance and modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.
  • Basic computer operator skills.
  • Reliable transportation, current driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church.

Education & Experience

  • Journeyman Plumber’s license
  • Three or more years’ experience in facilities and plumbing field
  • Previous experience performing light maintenance and janitorial services preferred
