ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Summary/Objective:

The Fuel Truck Operator is responsible for the refueling, repair and preventive maintenance of mobile equipment for all operations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Load fuel and transport to various locations for the mobile fueling of heavy equipment. Refuel equipment and operate refueling and lube equipment as scheduled.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance services such as oil changes, greasing, etc. on all heavy equipment in the field.
  3. Clean and remove accidental fuel spills in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
  4. Complete and maintain proper fuel records.
  5. Complete refueling report and daily work report accurately.
  6. Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner at ALL times. Wear all required safety equipment. Follow all safety guidelines and notify the Manager or Safety immediately of any current or potential safety issues.
  7. Follow all environmental regulations. Dispose of chemicals, trash, etc. in designated areas. Recycle when required. Notify the Manager immediately of any current or potential environmental problems.
  8. Keep fuel truck clean and free of debris and loose materials.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions:

  1. Pick up equipment or supplies.
  2. Train other employees.
  3. Fill in for colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Work Environment:

  • Work time will be outdoors/field.
  • Exposure to dust and fumes/offensive smells.
  • Exposure to chemicals such as fuel, grease and oil.
  • Close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
  • Noise level will be moderate to loud.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift a maximum weight of 25 lbs., repetitively lift 25 lbs., carry approximately 25 lbs., and push/pull approximately 25 lbs.
  • Reach overhead and reach away from the body, pinching and gripping.
  • Walk 1 hour per day, stand 4 hours per day, kneel 1 hour per day, squat 1 hour per day, climb 1 hour per day, lay on back 2-3 hours per day.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Experience handling flammables and combustibles.
  • Experience with heavy equipment preventive maintenance.

Special Skills:

  • Written communication, verbal communication and basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge. Ability to learn and use iPad, iPhone and company software applications.

Certifications:

  • Class B CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsement.
  • DOT certification.

Industry Related Experience or Skills:

  • Knowledge of equipment fueling patterns.

Education Required: High School

Preferred Education: Vocational or trade school training

Bilingual in Spanish Preferred: Yes
