Description

Impac Exploration Services, a leading oil and gas exploration company, is currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and highly skilled Mud Logger to join our team in the Permian Basin in West Texas. The successful candidate will play a vital role in monitoring and analyzing drilling operations, ensuring optimal performance and safety, and providing accurate data to support our exploration efforts.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor drilling operations and collect real-time geological data, including gas and cuttings samples, to inform drilling decisions.
  2. Operate and maintain air and electric agitator motors, hotwire and FID gas chromatograph equipment, and other related tools to ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
  3. Utilize TLog, MainLog, and Excel software to record, analyze, and interpret drilling data, providing timely and relevant reports to the drilling team and other stakeholders.
  4. Collaborate with geologists, drilling engineers, and other team members to optimize drilling operations and ensure safety and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  5. Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, management, and clients to address any issues or concerns related to drilling operations.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to data collection, equipment performance, and software functionality.
  7. Display initiative in identifying and implementing improvements to processes and procedures that enhance efficiency, safety, and data quality.
  8. Adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and industry best practices at all times.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  2. Previous experience as a mud logger, preferably in the Permian Basin, or a similar role in the oil and gas industry.
  3. Proficiency in TLog, MainLog, and Excel software, with excellent general computer skills.
  4. Familiarity with gas and electric agitator motors, hotwire and FID gas chromatograph equipment, and other related tools and technologies.
  5. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to think quickly and adapt to changing situations.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  7. Punctual, reliable, and committed to maintaining a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  8. Self-reliant and driven, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  9. Willingness to work in a remote and challenging environment, including long hours and potential exposure to harsh weather conditions.
