The Elementary Coordinator will seek to create engaging learning environments where elementary-age children (1st-5th grade) have the opportunity to discover who Jesus is and how much He loves them. This role works in collaboration with the Kids Ministry Team, other Family Ministry staff, and volunteer teams to facilitate cohesive coordination and implementation of ideas, planning, programming, and decisions.

Relationship Building

  • Collaborates with the Family Pastor to facilitate a cohesive approach to the discipleship of elementary-age children.
  • Recruit, build, equip and train a vibrant team of volunteer leaders and teachers.
  • Champion elementary families at Elmbrook, encouraging parents and guardians as they seek to be the primary spiritual leaders for their children.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Family Ministry Team, as well as all other ministry teams within Elmbrook Church.

Teaching/Leading

  • Knowledgeable about curriculum and can lead effectively from it with elementary-age children.
  • Create compelling environments, activities, and programming for each age group that will facilitate learning and encourages spiritual growth.
  • Oversee and execute a curriculum plan for Sunday morning teaching and special event programming, as well as maintains a regular teaching presence in these spaces.
  • Use appropriate child development knowledge to best meet the needs of the children in curriculum selection, child discipline, classroom grouping, etc.
  • Partners with the Kids Ministry Team to design and implement engaging special events for families.

Administration

  • Regularly and effectively, communicate with families and volunteers.
  • Healthy stewardship of budgeted resources.
  • Coordinates all planning and scheduling with the Kids Ministry team.
  • Lead, facilitate, shepherd, and follow through on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Oversees and maintains safety and security strategies for elementary areas.
  • Ensures compliance with Elmbrook policies and procedures.
  • Articulate a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing relationship with Him.
  • Commit to the mission and vision of Elmbrook Church.
  • Demonstrate humility, a teachable spirit, and integrity, working effectively with ministry teams across all church functions.
  • Exhibits a desire to grow, seeking relationships, resources, and training to assist in the continuation of personal and professional growth.
  • Has a love for and a desire to shepherd families and their children.
  • Models servant leadership by attitude and actions.
  • Builds positive and healthy relationships with staff and Elmbrook families.
  • Leads, facilitates, shepherds, and follows through on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Possesses strong relational, organizational, technical, project management, and decision-making skills.
  • Is conscientious, efficient, detail-oriented, and dependable.
  • Has a personable personality with qualities of diplomacy and discernment

Education and Experience:

  • Associate/Bachelors Degree in related field, preferred.
  • Two or more years of work experience in a related field. Teaching experience to various age groups. May be asked to provide examples of work.
  • Recommended Software Knowledge:
    • Windows operating system
    • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Previous database experience helpful.

Employment Information:

This position is part-time, hourly and classified as non-exempt.

24 hours/week

Salary dependent on experience, skills & education

Benefit Package:

Paid Time Off (PTO) Part-time employees who are scheduled to work more than 10 hours per week are eligible to earn PTO. PTO is accrued on a calendar year basis. Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.

403b Employees are eligible to participate in the 403b pension plan if they are scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week. Entry dates for the 403b plan is the first of the month following date of hire. On an employees first anniversary, Elmbrook will match up to 5%.

Holidays Part-time employees who are scheduled to work more than 10 hours per week are eligible for holiday pay if the holiday falls on their normal scheduled workday. There are 10 holidays recognized by Elmbrook Church as paid holidays. Refer to the Staff Handbook for specific details.
