Job Summary

The Clinical Specialist Driver will be an integral part of the Suvida Healthcare patient experience. This position will be responsible for driving a handicap accessible van to transport non-emergent patients to and from Suvida Healthcare Centers. This position will also be responsible for care of the vehicle and ensuring maintenance is completed on schedule.. As the clinical specialist driver, this position will be responsible for certain clinical duties to include, phlebotomy, sample collection, and taking vitals. These duties may be performed in the patients home or at the center.

Essential responsibilities consist of but not all inclusive:

Greets patients and verifies their identity

Ensures the highest level of customer service possible

Displays respect and concern for all patients

Attends all clinic huddles and clinic monthly meetings

Collects blood samples by performing venipunctures and fingersticks

Records tests performed and blood samples taken into EMR

Explains tests to patients and answers any questions they might have

Collects vitals as needed

Transports samples in a timely manner and in accordance with outlined policies and procedures

Drives company vehicle to and from individual patient care facilities/home per assigned schedule.

Assists disabled passengers into and out of vehicle.

Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.

Communicates with clinic staff or Center Director to report disruption of service.

Responsible for cleaning, inspecting, and fueling of assigned vehicle, as well as documenting, reporting, and/or correcting any deficiencies found during the inspection.

Ensures vehicles are taken for maintenance/inspections as per maintenance/inspection schedule

Keeps records of trips, mileage, and accidents

Alerts emergency medical services and clinic staff of any emergency patient may have during trip

Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Valid TX Driver's License (Good Standing)

Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology

Previous experience in specific medical field preferred

 

Experience Requirements

Applicant must have a minimum age of 25

Clean Driving Record (MVP) in past 7 years

Clean Criminal Background

2+ years progressive work experience in the healthcare transportation

2+ years of customer service

Bi-lingual-English/Spanish required

Experience with operating wheelchair securing devices

5+ years of experience with operating motor vehicle

Experience with operating wheelchairs, both motorized and non-motorized

Experience in Value-based care operations preferred

Considerable knowledge of geography of the business area and the location of roads and streets preferred

Comfortable working independently

 

License/Certification:

Current and valid Texas issued drivers license in good standing

CPR/BLS Certified (Willing to obtain within 7 days of employment)

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for prolonged periods of time, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms. Hand eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and other office equipment; must be able to operate a motor vehicle. When representing Suvida Healthcare at external events, the Clinical Specialist Driver is also required to stand for prolonged periods of time, kneel, crouch, bend and lift, and able to move up to 30 pounds.
