Pay Range: $89,000 - $92,000

 

The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for driving diverse marketing and communication initiatives across varied platforms and constituencies to ensure the overall visibility and integrity of Habitat Charlotte Region. This role is responsible for the integration of effective marketing and communication strategies, both internally and externally, across all functional areas, to support the long-term strategic direction for the affiliate.

 

Working to build homes, communities and hope in Charlotte and the surrounding area, Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region has partnered with more than 3,000 families since 1983. This year, we will help over 300 families through new home construction, recycling existing homes, critical home repair projects and financial literacy training. Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

  • Oversee the planning, development and implementation of a multi-year marketing, public relations and communications strategy across multiple channels.

  • Develop a compelling branding strategy that supports Habitat Charlotte Regions strategic goals and objectives and positions the affiliate as the premier voice of affordable housing.

  • Operate an agency-style account management function to serve internal clients with marketing communications support.

  • Oversee the development and production of all marketing publications, collateral communication material and social media initiatives.

  • Ensure that brand identity, messaging and marketing and communications strategy are infused in all organizational efforts (programming, development, network support).

  • Oversee a series of integrated digital marketing strategies that reflect the goals and objectives of online engagement and awareness.

  • Oversee relevant and compelling editorial content for internal and external distribution, including but not limited to; organizational messaging, talking points, speeches, event program and production, scripts, articles, advertisements, op-eds, interviews.

  • Use analytics tools to optimize marketing, make data-driven decisions, and demonstrate ROI of efforts.

  • Work with leadership team and staff to identify internal and external marketing communication opportunities and develop strategies that support solutions.

  • Oversee, steward, and maintain Habitat Charlotte Regions media relations to ensure consistent and accurate coverage of the organizations mission, vision, identity and needs.

  • Create and execute integrated marketing campaigns to increase retail sales and brand awareness at Habitat Charlotte Region ReStore(s).

  • Support marketing campaign strategies to attract potential clients to Habitats homebuyer program.

  • Implement and maintain the affiliates crisis communications plan.

  • Oversee the daily activities of the Marketing & Communications Department including budgeting, planning and staff development.

  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.

  • Responsible for staff performance and development goals, establish staff priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisals.

 

Required skills/experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience working with integrated marketing communications, digital marketing, content marketing, and media relations

  • Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of marketing and communications specialists

  • College degree preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to project manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Consistent and reliable attendance, with ability to work on-site as needed

  • Represent Habitat in a positive and professional manner

  • Managing Multiple Priorities

  • Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude when interacting with employees, homeowners, volunteers and the public

  • Willingly adhere to Habitats Code of Conduct policies and other policies

  • Adhere to schedules and deadlines

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability work in office environment as needed which requires ability to speak, hear, with the visual and manual dexterity to manage papers, reports, and typing. Must embody the capacity to maintain the following for several hours at a time: use of personal computer or similar technology, phone, sitting as required.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted

External Interactions: Media contacts, graphic design and print vendors

 

Estimated Time Commitment: 40 plus hours/week

 

Level of authority: Requires minimal supervision
