Job Summary

The Managing Director Assistant/Analyst has primary responsibility for providing support and leverage to Thread’s Managing Director. The Assistant/Analyst must be able to work independently while managing special projects delegated by the Managing Director, assist with the workflow and schedule to ensure projects and deliverables are on track and aligned with Thread’s priorities. Additionally, this role would ensure that the Managing Director effectively and efficiently implements projects and delivers communications for the benefit of the teams, Lane and organization.

The position also serves as a consultant team member for ensuring processes are in place to facilitate cross-functional bodies of work, including regular updates to key platforms and systems. Providing data gathering and analysis for the Managing Director and the Investment Directors is critical for real time performance management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in planning processes

  • Develop, maintain and update Thread performance reports to support our front line operations

  • Maintain a high level of quality for Thread reporting responding to direct feedback and ad hoc reporting requirements

  • Instill a sense of accountability to customer and team members towards collective and individual outcomes

  • Help Managing Director to maintain a strong presence, both internally and externally as needed

  • Help Managing Director to prioritize and manage schedule, engaging support from others within Thread where appropriate

  • Prepare Managing Director for meetings, in partnership with Middle and Back Office

  • Help Managing Director to prioritize projects and maintain focus on Thread’s mission; offload projects and tasks from Managing Director as appropriate


Organization Performance Management

  • Ensure that Managing Director has the appropriate information, consensus, and relevant anecdotal information to drive Front Office in meeting goals and milestones

  • Identify areas for Managing Director and / or Investment Directors attention

  • Ensure that appropriate communications are taking place between and among teams to effectively carry out Thread’s mission

  • Develop periodic performance reports for CEO/Board

Data & Analytics

  • Create and update reporting as needed

  • Work with leads across Investment Teams to analyze data and then make tactical suggestions on improvements when needed

  • Support Front Office leadership & staff in interpreting and understanding data

  • Develop, implement and provide meaningful reporting and information to all relevant stakeholders, including coordination of reports to Thread’s Board of Directors

Special Projects

  • Leads special projects on behalf of and as delegated by Managing Director


  • Bachelor’s degree with excellent / robust technical / technology skills

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience

  • MS Office / G Suite expertise with demonstrated advanced skill set

  • Experience with Salesforce is highly preferred; other database experience and the ability, drive and desire to become an expert in Salesforce at the administrator level is required.

  • Excellent project management, coordination and backwards planning skills

  • Ability to organize complex tasks and prioritize multiple assignments

  • Collaborative approach to finding solutions

  • Outstanding analytical ability with a commitment to excellence and accuracy

  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills

  • Javascript or HTML or Google scripting experience

  • Experience in the use of a structured query language in a relational database

  • Strong data management skills and comfort with statistical analyses

  • 5+ year in executive management role

  • Very strong interpersonal and communications skills; ability to interact with staff and Board at all levels and build relationships

  • Very strong ability to manage tasks, prioritize issues, execute work in an efficient and timely manner, and track and manage multiple work streams at once

  • Very strong analytical skills; able to synthesize data into appropriate reports for decision-making

  • Experience and expertise in strategic and business planning

  • Proficiencies with technology (e.g. Microsoft Office, including Excel) and Google Platform, and willingness to adapt to new technologies

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to employ sound judgment
