Description

Job Title: Director of Supportive Housing Programs
Reports To: Senior Director of Housing and Clinical Programs
Location: Boston, MA
Position Type: Full-time, exempt
Annual Salary: $85,000 - $95,000

 

Overview:

The Director of Housing leads the team that plans and delivers Heading Home’s services to individuals and families exiting homelessness to housing, overseeing both congregate and scattered-site programs and playing a key role in the organization’s Senior Team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Housing and Clinical Programs, the Director of Housing will ensure that Heading Home Permanent and Transitional programs meet service delivery goals and contractual obligations, making necessary modifications to program design and organizational structure, as well as shaping and implementing program expansion and new programs. Heading Home programs operate using a trauma informed lens, and using evidence-based models like Motivational Interviewing and Mobility Mentoring. Directors are expected to utilize these modalities and ensure that staff are trained in and provide services using those models.

 

Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:

  • In collaboration with other members of the team, determines and implements appropriate policies and procedures to ensure smooth and effective service delivery to individuals and compliance with regulations, contracts, and Heading Home policies.
  • Oversees the delivery of client services, makes assessments of program impact, and recommends program/policy changes.
  • Oversee the delivery of client services, evaluate and assess program impact, recommend program/policy changes, and direct program shifts and improvements
  • Collaborates as appropriate with Director of Clinical Services to ensure compliance with billing and service delivery expectations of external partners, such as Mass Health and the Department of Public Health
  • Advise on, and at times directly manage, challenging client situations in partnership with other Housing services staff member
  • Represents Heading Home at external meetings with housing providers.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Housing and Data Team to develop and implement the tracking of process and outcome data for the Housing services portfolio of programs, ensuring that programming is in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws as well as with all sources of government funding
  • Serve as a key member of the Senior Team, collaborating with colleagues in the development and monitoring of shelter program budgets and ensuring compliance with agency's purchasing and procurement policies
  • Participate in fundraising and cultivation events as an agency ambassador; work collaboratively with the Development Department to plan and execute quality volunteer activities
  • Adheres to all agency and program policies, procedures and rules.
  • Performs all other reasonable related duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Housing.

Work Environment 

  • Office space within office building; prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Office is open to the public and visitors only by appointment. Position requires a minimum of four days onsite. Office is climate controlled with heat and air conditioning.
  • Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend stairs up to three or more sets, occasionally move equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required, Master’s Degree preferred. Lack of degree may be waived at the discretion of the VP of Operations
  • At least 5 -7 years of progressive management experience serving vulnerable populations
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; adept at working with and relating to diverse constituents in a fast-paced, urgent environment
  • Demonstrated success managing reporting and compliance requirements for state and/or government-funded programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to function as an effective change agent.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve differences in an unbiased manner.
  • Ability to be flexible, open and responsive to ongoing industry changes
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
