Employment Success Coordinator

Employment Success Coordinator

Program Overview:

The Graham SLAM program works with youth ages 16 -24 who are in Graham Windham’s programs including foster care, foster care prevention, community-based afterschool and mental health programs. The program aims to develop a strong network of support for each young person through high school and post-secondary education and training (college or a recognized vocational certificate program) and into living-wage employment. The program ‘sticks with’ youth through age 25, or into a living wage career path.

The Employment Success Coordinator will support SLAM youth in developing a pathway to employment success. They will develop and maintain long-term, cooperative working relationships with private, public, and community employment partners in collaboration with the Graham SLAM team. They will also assist program participants in internship placements and career-oriented employment.

Graham SLAM Employment Success Coordinator will:

  • Work one on one with youth to create and manage their Workforce Pathways while building critical skills to set youth on a path to successful employment and a living wage career
  • Develop and maintain an internal job bank of placements for employment, internships, and community service/volunteer opportunities with employers in the private and public sector for youth in the Graham SLAM program and coordinate SYEP initiatives on a yearly basis.
  • Maintain data entry on a monthly basis around applications, interviews, job placements, interests, career goals, and employment outcomes of program youth.  Manage additional reporting including entering required data into the Care4 database and SharePoint.
  • Stay up to date with job market information that affects youth employment trends and utilize this data for best practices and techniques to better serve and match youth participants between jobs and internships.
  • Develop and maintain long-term, cooperative working relationships with private, public, and community partners who provide effective and/or cost-free workforce training, employment, or vocational opportunities for youth
  • Attend ACS Education and Employment workshops, Fair Futures meetings and training related to the workforce field
  • Creatively recruit, increase retention and maintain strong participant attendance at workforce related workshops, internships and other job related opportunities. This includes serving as the lead or co-lead person for Career Club and providing support to SLAM staff who facilitate workshops.
  • Develop and coordinate networking opportunities and career exposure events, including but not limited to field trips and relevant workshops.
  • Travel to multiple service sites within the program, primarily in Brooklyn and Manhattan
  • Perform other related duties as required by Supervisor.
  • Work with diverse populations (including LGBTQ) and cultures, process information and respond empathically.
