Accreditation Officer and Teacher Licensure Specialist (PT)

The Accreditation Officer and Teacher Licensure Specialist supports critical functions necessary for ongoing accreditation standards for the university. This position promotes ethical behavior and awareness and liaises with all regulatory bodies applicable to the university. The Accreditation Officer and Teacher Licensure Specialist are multi-talented professionals knowledgeable in critical areas, including national accreditation standards and requirements (DEAC), state authorization reciprocity agreements (NC-SARA), and individualized teacher licensure and advancement regulations in all 50 states. 

This role manages compliance-related operations for state authorization and institutional accreditation, ensures AOEU meets public disclosure and consumer information requirements and develops and maintains documentation for state authorization and institutional accreditation. This position works collaboratively both vertically and horizontally within the university to ensure best practices are conducted and upheld and advises the team on a range of regulatory matters.

Structured as a remote part-time, hourly position. This position will report to the Chief Academic Officer.

This position is eligible to remote work from the following locations: USA.

The Details 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Accreditation Management

  • Develop, train, and monitor comprehensive accreditation-related operations.

  • Ensure appropriate policies for all regulatory bodies are established, maintained, and well-documented.

  • Own and manage all compliance review processes, including annual reviews and self-evaluation reports (SER).

  • Oversee operations related to institutional effectiveness.

  • Serve as a liaison for all accreditation-related correspondence, assessment cycles, and site visits.

  • Manages the graduate catalog and student agreements. 

  • Develop and implement auditing processes to maintain compliance with student records, policies, communication, and the website.

  • Other projects as assigned. 

Teacher Licensure State Liason

  • Monitor and complete all state-specific reporting requirements related to accreditation and state authorization.

    • Iowa College Aid

    • NC-SARA

    • California authorization 

  • Maintain and update the state map and keep all relevant team members informed and trained. 

  • Manage state-level preferred provider applications and renewals.

  • Assist with district-level RFPs.

Position Requirements

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum five years of experience in a successful college or university compliance or accreditation office preferred. 

  • Experience with state, regional, and national accreditation policies preferred.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required. 

  • Master’s degree preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to view computer screens for significant periods of time. The Art of Education University is an online university therefore 95-98% of one’s time will be on or using technology.

  • Ability to use a laptop keyboard with accuracy.

  • Ability to hear at normal levels and through electronic devices such as laptops, earbuds, phones, and the like.

The Process

For most roles, the process is as follows: 

  • Step 1: ~30 minute phone interview with hiring manager

  • Step 2: Round 2 packet & Interview

    • Given that this role works remotely, we want to see how you would work through some of the daily tasks, responsibilities, and challenges you might come across through a day-in-the-life. You will be given a prompt and be asked to complete an assignment which will then be used to guide a ~1 hour follow-up Zoom interview with 1-2 stakeholders. The intention is for you to get a sense of the role and give us an opportunity to see your skills in action. Your answers will not be used for any other purposes beyond evaluating your candidacy for this role, as it's important for both of us to get a glimpse of how you would handle a day in the life of this role.

  • Step 3: Follow-up interview

    • For certain managerial or high-collaboration roles, you may be asked to participate in a final Zoom interview.
