 Product Manager

The Art of Education University (AOEU) is seeking a mission-driven, detail-oriented, digital curriculum Product Manager to help guide the continued growth, strategy, and development of AOEU content and experience. The Product Manager will lead all aspects of product development; from concept through to release. They will work closely with product development, experience, and go-to-market teams to define, prioritize and develop solutions that achieve AOEU strategic objectives.

Structured as a remote full-time salaried position. This position will report to the Director of Product Management.

The Details 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with Product Development (k-12 curriculum and professional development), Academics, Engineering, and QA teams to define business & functional requirements, designs, and user stories to support the software engineering and content development process. 

  • Conduct primary and secondary user research to help prioritize new features and inform design and development decisions. 

  • Conduct primary and secondary user research to help prioritize new content development.

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to define and track KPIs for product success. 

  • Develop and regularly maintain a data-driven product backlog to deliver on the product vision and roadmap. Regularly collect market input (customers, sales, service, competitive intelligence, etc.) and update the backlog accordingly.

  • Analyze consumer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and build vs. buy perspective.

  • Appraise new product ideas and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans.

  • Contribute to the overall digital product roadmap by defining and prioritizing content enhancements & personalization features across platforms.

  • Leverage a deep understanding of existing content, instructional, and adult learning theory, and engagement techniques.

  • Partner with the Content, Engineering, and Design teams to help users get to the content they will love as quickly as possible.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continually optimize content curation strategies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated expertise working in complex, collaborative, cross-functional teams with strong influence, communication, and partnership skills.

  • Experience and subject-matter expertise in the field of product management, product development, digital curriculum, and professional learning

  • Extremely detail-oriented; proven experience analyzing and documenting complex business processes and user journeys. 

  • Demonstrated experience leveraging data to inform roadmap and design decisions.

  • Experience and demonstrated understanding of K-12 curriculum and instruction

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Critical feedback skills (giving/receiving) that help level up solutions

  • Experience with tools in our product management stack or equivalent (Gainsight, Clickup, Jira, Miro)

  • Experience working in a remote-first setting. 

Position Requirements

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years’ experience in a product manager, product owner or business analyst role. 

  • 5+ years of experience in teaching, developing curriculum, and professional development content

  • Startup experience is a plus.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in education preferred or demonstrated experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to view computer screens for significant periods of time. The Art of Education University is an online university therefore 95-98% of one’s time will be on or using technology.

  • Ability to use a laptop keyboard with accuracy.

  • Ability to hear at normal levels and through electronic devices such as laptops, earbuds, phones, and the like.

The Process

For most roles, the process is as follows: 

  • Step 1: ~30 minute phone interview with hiring manager

  • Step 2: Round 2 packet & Interview

    • Given that this role works remotely, we want to see how you would work through some of the daily tasks, responsibilities, and challenges you might come across through a day-in-the-life. You will be given a prompt and be asked to complete an assignment which will then be used to guide a ~1 hour follow-up Zoom interview with 1-2 stakeholders. The intention is for you to get a sense of the role and give us an opportunity to see your skills in action. Your answers will not be used for any other purposes beyond evaluating your candidacy for this role, as it's important for both of us to get a glimpse of how you would handle a day in the life of this role.

  • Step 3: Follow-up interview

    • For certain managerial or high-collaboration roles, you may be asked to participate in a final Zoom interview.
