Part Time 3's Preschool Teacher


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Graduate of a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood or closely related field preferred. Also acceptable: Associates Degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education in Education, Early Childhood OR Minimum three (2) years teaching experience with young children. CPR/AED certification preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of preschool curriculum.
-Ability to prepare, organize, and implement creative lesson plans.
-Ability to work with an assigned teacher assistant.
-Good oral and written communication skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, solve problems, and produce work on a timely basis.
-Demonstrate initiative, dependability, good judgment, tact, leadership, and the capability to work in a positive manner with the students, their families, and other Park District staff.

HOURS:
MWF from 9am-12pm.
Tu/Th from 9am-12pm
School year runs from September 2024 - May 2025

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for 3 year old Preschool Prep children
-Supervise all classroom activities and daily routines.
-Establish a nurturing relationship with the children and parents and treat them in a positive manner.
-Oversee, direct, and work with the teacher assistant on daily class preparation.
-Prepare classroom & clean up daily.
-Maintain current certification for First Aid and CPR.
-Prepare written lesson plans & submit them to the Preschool Director following the monthly curriculum planning meeting.
-Assign Teacher Assistant duties.
-Attend all scheduled orientation, open houses, and informational nights as scheduled for the program.
-Attend required training and safety programs as established and recognized by the Wheeling Park District.
-Maintain required records of programs and class participation documentation as required.
-Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
-Supports and exhibits the established organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.
-Work as scheduled.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
-Attend in-service training and workshops to promote knowledge in related areas of responsibility.
-Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

RATE OF PAY:
15.00/HR +, depending on experience and qualifications

May be exposed to noise distractions from employees or equipment being operated in adjacent work areas.
