MARGINAL
FUNCTIONS: Performs construction and maintenance of athletic fields and special event facilities including but not limited to: temporary fencing, installing and grading infield clay/sand loam, tent/seating set- ups, moving bleachers, soccer goal assembly and repair, drain tile installation and floodwater pumping.
Assists staff with maintenance and construction of pavements, buildings, plumbing, carpentry, electrical & lighting, furnaces, ducts, pipe lines, water lines, shelters, benches, playground equipment, signs, fencing, sewers, and drainage structures, asphalt, concrete and brick paving, stone paths, etc.
Operates equipment and machinery.
Special projects as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting: to load and unload materials up to 50 lbs. Rocks & Landscape Materials
Reaching: to retrieve and replace materials

Walking: to and from facilities

Crouching: to retrieve supplies from lower levels
Kneeling: to plant shrubs, trees, and landscape materials
Digging: hand diggers and shovels
Bending: for planting and landscape / turf work

Motion: needed for planting, digging, lifting, landscape related filed work
Seeing: to drive park district vehicles
Grasping: to handle tools
Carrying: supplies to and from locations
Pulling: to operate manual shifts, equipment and landscape materials
Fingering: to operate machinery
Balancing: while cutting or sawing materials
Talking: to communicate with co-workers
Hearing: to communicate with co-workers
Handling: materials and tools
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Employee may work under deadlines and under stressful situations.
Employee may work unsupervised and must seek out supervision when necessary.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Employee may be exposed to chemicals or other potentially dangerous materials utilized during routine maintenance procedures.
Employee may be exposed to all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and noise.
Employee is required to work on all types of uneven surfaces, including grass, mud and stone.
