Rainbow Hospice Care is currently accepting applications for an Accounting Manager. This is a fulltime, salaried position and will primarily work at the Jefferson office.


Position Summary & Job Responsibilities

  • The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting staff, systems, and operations including general accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable/billing. 
  • Will work closely with the CFO to create the financial statements, analyze, and report results.   
  • The Accounting Manager ensures that accounting operations are consistent with corporate policy, regulatory requirements, and specific goals.
  • Will ensure accurate reporting and forecasting of the company’s balance sheet, cash flow, fixed assets, and specific expense lines.
  • This role will be heavily involved in year-end processes, audits, and regulatory reporting (audit, Form 990, Medicare Cost Report, etc.).
  • Monthly activities include leading the month end close, entering journal entries, account reconciliations as assigned, and recording of expenses.
  • Produce monthly reports, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting.
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data.
  • Provide all reports needed for the annual financial audit, answer auditor’s questions & provide additional reports during the audit.
  • Participates in continuous improvement and effectively communicates opportunities to improve efficiencies and effectiveness for this position.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in auditing and/or accounting with progressing responsibility required.
  • 1-3 years of progressing supervisory responsibilities is required.
  • Healthcare accounting and/or billing experience may be given preference over other candidates.



  • Knowledge of key activities within the monthly and annual financial closing process and annual financial audit process.
  • Highly motivated and organized with a strong attention to detail and analytical skills to help solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgement.
  • Ability to keep up to date with financial policies, practices, and regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and capable of dealing with deadline pressures.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and current auto insurance required upon hire and must be maintained.
  • COVID vaccination series required.
