K-12 Substitute Teacher

New Life Academy is looking for Substitute Teachers to work regularly in all school divisions, Early Ed through Grade 12. This role assumes all of the classroom responsibilities and duties of a teacher at New Life Academy, with the exception of curriculum planning. Substitute Teacher schedules are 7:30 am until 3:00 pm. We provide training, support and curriculum plans to follow. Substitute Teachers report to the Principal of the division worked in. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher seeking freedom from extensive curriculum design and grading or for a new graduate educated in teaching seeking experience and connections.

Responsibilities:

• Instruction 

• Carefully review and follow sub notes from teacher 

• Collaborate with specialist teachers in order to help students in need of additional support   

• Classroom management  

• Keep records including daily attendance and lunch counts in School Information System (currently Veracross)

• Be aware of and enforce handbook policies (Teacher and Student Handbooks)  

• Take notes on learning progress for classroom teacher 

• Model and encourage Christian character 

• Follow school systems regarding policies, grading, record-keeping, and communication with lead teachers 

• Manage timecard independently 

• Ensure student safety 

• Other duties as assigned  

Academic  

• Bachelor's degree in education

• Classroom teaching experience preferred  

• Knowledge of Christian K-12 education (characteristics)  

• Innate commitment to and passion for New Life Academy’s mission and vision  

• Ability to effectively integrate New Life’s Christian beliefs and conduct into daily work  

• Ability to build a positive reputation through effective relationship-building and daily conduct  

• Born again believer who exhibits the Fruit of the Spirit in their daily walk  

• Regular attendee and supporter of a church whose fundamental beliefs are evangelical in nature  

If interested applicants do not qualify as a Substitute Teacher with New Life Academy, we also hire Substitute Classroom Aides and Lunch and Recess Monitors. These backup substitutes are vital to our academic operations. They are screened, interviewed, and must meet the credentials of the positions, but do not require a bachelors degree and teaching experience.
