Summary
The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is the not-for-profit corporation that serves as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of its owner, The City of New York (the City). BNYDC constantly strives to provide an environment in which businesses and careers can take root and grow.
The Impact & Partnerships team is seeking a Business Development Manager. This position will oversee key strategic business ecosystem initiatives to develop Yard industries and grow our 550+ businesses, with special focus on our MWBE (minority and woman-owned business) community. They will sustain and build new strategic relationships among private, public, and nonprofit sector partners, and create programming to promote discovery, connection, and activation within the Yard’s innovation ecosystem.
Areas of Responsibility
- Design engagement initiatives with Yard businesses, such as education & consulting programs, technical assistance, networking events, and other Yard-wide efforts
- Provide market insights to help inform strategic programming and tenant outreach, identifying City and mission-aligned trends amongst various Yard sectors
- Liaise with external resource partners and consultants, pursuing partnerships that serve the Yard community and small business resource programs
- Manage communications including but not limited to brand development for programs, drafting proposals, overseeing the monthly internal newsletter, and representing BNYDC at public events
- Oversee business ecosystem data collection and initiatives, such as an annual Ecosystem Survey
- Analyze the impact of program delivery and synthesize information in reports
- Implement continuous improvement based on research findings, data analysis, and feedback
- Project manage key initiatives by working across all BNYDC departments and business units
Required Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated program and end-to-end project management
- Track record of relationship cultivation and management within a diverse network
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical and presentation skills
- Systems-level thinker with ability to multitask and work with multiple projects in a portfolio
- Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred
