JOB PURPOSE
The Preschool teacher is responsible for creating a dynamic and interactive learning environment .This quality teacher regards spiritual maturity, academic success, and social growth as avenues of learning within the classroom. He/she will proactively communicate with parents and families to ensure partnership in student learning. Collaboration among teachers, administrators, and parents is a high priority and conducted routinely. This position requires a special person who exhibits loving patience, great flexibility, organizational skills, and a servant heart to follow the lead of the teacher.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
School and Classroom Culture
- Interact with parents, students, staff and visitors in a positive, friendly, and Christ- centered manner
- Teach classroom routines and rules with a gospel-centered approach to develop students into Christ-like examples of scholarship, leadership, and service
- Ensure quality support for individuals to guarantee all are successful
- Maintain student relationships that are strong and healthy
Clear Purpose
- Complete lesson plans referencing Early Childhood Indicators of Progress and objectives that are measured daily
- Generate creative lessons with student friendly learning targets
- Apply Biblical permeation in all lessons
- Routinely uses formative assessment to check student understanding before, during, and after each lesson
Instruction
- Instruct using the gradual release model for quality instruction
- Consistently engage students through interactive and hands-on lessons
- Understand student individual needs in learning
- Make learning that is relevant and age appropriate to students
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Initiate a partnership with parents and students to build strong relationships
- Provide ongoing communication with parents to establish trust
- Attend and collaborate with Preschool and Pre-K teachers through PLC’s, instructional time, devotions, and staff meetings
- Complete yearly in-service and training opportunities set by Early Education Director
- Actively look for opportunities to serve others
- Help with carpool on a daily basis
- Conduct Fall and Spring parent-teacher conferences
- Maintain a clean and inviting classroom through bulletin boards and displays of student work
