Description

The Campaign Director will be responsible for daily coordination of a major comprehensive campaign and is essential to supporting volunteer leadership and staff. The myriad details and arrangements involved with cultivation and solicitation of gifts are significant. 

 

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree, and 3-5 years or more experience in fundraising that requires building and managing relationships with people of influence and supporting their needs.  Additionally, major donor cultivation and/or campaign experience is preferred.  Demonstrated experience working with databases is essential, as are exemplary written and communication skills. Project management and volunteer management skills are a must. Understanding of accounting principals is preferred. Candidate must be a self-starter with a high level of self-confidence and good personal presentation, eager to establish personal relationships with major supporters of the organization.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  1. Report to the Director of Development.  Work as member of the advancement team and independently as needed to complete campaign activities. Maintain regular communications with the Director of Development and volunteer leadership team.
  2. Work under the direction of the Director of Development and campaign counsel to be responsible for and implement daily campaign activities, supporting and managing campaign volunteers and their activities, during the solicitation and design and building phase of the campaign to its completion.
  3. Provide staffing to the Director of Development and all volunteer leadership, in the recruitment and orientation of campaign volunteers, and solicitation of gifts. Inform and involve Board of Trustees in campaign activities. Meet regularly with Campaign Leadership to inform and involve them in campaign activities. 
  4. Accompany campaign volunteers and staff on appropriate cultivation and/or solicitation calls.
  5. Provide staffing to schedule and arrange logistics of all campaign meetings, committees, cultivation events, and other meetings and events related to the campaign.
  6. Ensure that all necessary campaign materials are available to campaign staff and volunteers. Prepare all correspondence including meeting notifications, agendas, minutes, solicitation packets, written proposals, follow-up letters, thank yous, and other follow-up materials.  
  7. Work with the Summit Advancement Office to insure maintenance of all prospects and assignment tracking reports, gift and pledge records and reports, and gift acknowledgements.
  8. Under the direction of the Director of Development and campaign counsel, the Campaign Director will compile all profile information on individual, corporate, foundation, and other prospects to review with campaign volunteers and staff.
  9. Maintain and update a campaign calendar of scheduled activities and make regular reports to the Director of Development, Board of Trustees, and Campaign Leadership.
  10. Ensure that written records and action plans resulting from all meetings regarding the campaign are updated and shared immediately as deemed appropriate.
  11. Ensure that all materials are organized and maintained thoroughly and accurately on a computer and hard copy filing systems for all campaign activities.
  12. Perform the above and any other duties necessary for effective and efficient implementation of campaign plans and activities.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization, preferably in development and in a campaign setting
  • Experience with gift records management
  • Strong organizational skills, with keen focus on detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, willingness to work as a team and support volunteer leaders
  • Strong communication skills and comfort engaging with donors of all levels
  • Super-user in database programs, Veracross or other similar CRM software
  • Proficient in using various software and applications, including Google Drive
  • Experience working in a customer service environment
  • Experience managing special events
  • Experience in a school environment preferred, but not required
