Position Summary:
The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing all invoices received for payment and for undertaking the payment of all creditors in an accurate, efficient and timely manner. The Accounts Payable Clerk may also be responsible for other administrative duties within the accounting department such as filing paperwork, coordinating and/or attending team meetings, answering phone calls and emails, and other duties assigned by the Controller.
Job Duties:
- Obtain supporting documents to support paying the invoices;
- Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly statements;
- Review invoice extension and verify accounting codes;
- Ensure invoices are authorized prior to entering them into the organization's internal system
- Enter invoices on a daily basis;
- Ensure invoices are entered to meet monthly cutoff, enabling timely generation of monthly financials;
- Coordinate and process invoice payments to vendors;
- Obtain Controller’s prior approval before semi-monthly check runs;
- Obtain signature of checks;
- Communicate with vendors and staff regarding status of payments;
- Maintain files on account status, vendor information, and payments processed;
- Generate reports detailing accounts payables status;
- Understand expense accounts and cost centers;
- Understand compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, sales tax, etc.);
- Other tasks assigned by Controller
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Driving Record and Requirements: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates must submit a copy of their DMV driver’s record. The candidate also must possess and continue to maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Employment Eligibility: Federal law requires all employees to provide verification of their eligibility to work in the United States. Medical Verification: State law requires all employees working with youth to provide medical verification of negative tuberculosis test results within the last year. Employees will also be required to submit proof of COVID19 vaccination.
Background Check and Fingerprinting: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates will be required to undergo Live Scan Fingerprinting as well as a background check, which includes a state and federal criminal history record check.
Drug Screen: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates will be required to undergo and pass a 5-panel drug screen.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary for this position ranges from $26.06 - $30.00 per hour. The salary is based on a level of skill, experience, and education that meets or significantly exceeds the minimum requirements for this position, and is commensurate with the compensation scale;

Work Environment & Requirements
Position may require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires far and near vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The nature of the work may require the incumbent to work outdoors, work at heights, lift, carry and push equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and work evenings, weekends and holidays. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.

Employment At-Will
The San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School is an “At-Will” employer. This means that employment with SJCC+CS is voluntarily entered into and staff members are free to resign at any time. Similarly, SJCC+CS may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or prior notice, as it deems appropriate. This at-will employment relationship can be changed only in a written agreement signed by the staff member and the Executive Director of SJCC+CS.
**SJCC+CS IS A MANDATORY COVID-19 VACCINATION EMPLOYER**
All new hires will be required to provide proof of vaccination absent an approved medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. If a new hire is in the process of being vaccinated, their start date may be adjusted to a future date after they have been vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means at it has been at least two weeks since the person has completed the entire recommended initial series of a COVID-19 vaccine.
