Bennett Thrasher (“BT”) has an opening for a Entertainment Staff Associate. Working as part of a team and utilizing resources to add value to client, a staff helps to perform the detailed work of agreed upon procedures and audits to motion picture studios, television networks, independent film producers and digital entertainment companies across the nation to help them claim, plan and monetize production incentives. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops effective working relationships with clients and firm associates
  • Works effectively in teams to provide quality service to clients
  • Gains a comprehensive understanding of client operations and utilizes that knowledge throughout engagements
  • Communicates professionally (both verbally and electronically) with clients under the supervision of managers, senior managers and partners
  • Demonstrates knowledge of accounting and auditing standards/theory
  • Develops an understanding of BT’s film tax credit audit approach in multiple jurisdictions, including familiarity with agreed upon procedures in various film incentives jurisdictions
  • Develops familiarity with production accounting as used in the film and television industry
  • Develops expertise with MTC (Multistate Tax Commission) statistical sampling software
  • Clearly and adequately documents working papers
  • Demonstrates effective use of current technology and software, including researching technical issues utilizing tax research software
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships across the firm
  • Works with members of the engagement team to identify and resolve any client issues discovered during engagements
  • Supports firm efforts including recruiting, BT Foundation and other initiatives
  • Maintains open communication with engagement management regarding the progress of completion on projects
  • Executes feedback to minimize repeated errors and apply new concepts
  • Plans and performs agreed upon procedures as set out in state audit manuals
  • Participates actively in training and developmental opportunities
  • Takes ownership of assigned areas even after rolling onto other engagements.
  • Manages time effectively by completing projects within communicated budget/deadlines
  • Actively studying and preparing for the CPA certification


  • Undergraduate degree required, Master’s preferred (150 hour requirement threshold should be satisfied or a specific plan in place)
  • Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence
  • Time management and organizational skills
