Princeton University Press (PUP), seeks an International Marketing & Sales Associate to join the Oxford office team. The successful candidate will divide time between marketing activities for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and international sales duties (3 days marketing, 2 days sales).  In the marketing role, the job-holder will seek and execute marketing activities, across PUP’s entire list, specific to the EMEA market. The role will also assist the international sales director in the management of international sales representatives and all sales territories outside US & Canada and take a lead role in managing South America.


We seek a colleague who demonstrates curiosity and enthusiasm for scholarly publishing. This is a full-time position with comprehensive UK benefits. This is an office job and requires 20% of work (1 day/week) to be performed on-site at 99 Banbury Road for the purpose of performing in-office responsibilities such as preparing mailings and exhibits. Office days are flexible and in coordination with the reporting managers.


Position Duties



  • Oversee PUP’s attendance/involvement at academic conferences in Europe and any other book events we attend, execute, monitor, and assess our advertising. Manage the creation of subject emails in Hubspot, the purchase of mailing lists through IBIS and Textbook web and the deployment of the emails. 
  • Upload assets for key titles and series to Amazon UK Manage ad hoc promotion material requests for EMEA bookshops. 
  • Add all EMEA events and conferences to the PUP website.
  • Oversee our Bookseller’s Buyer’s Guide entries.
  • Seek out additional marketing opportunities, such as associations and societies, across all PUP books/subject areas.
  • Communicate EMEA marketing activities through ensuring they are added to the Biblio database. 
  • Update and maintain the marketing database MMS to ensure it is current.
  • Arrange/produce flyers, postcards, occasional posters and invitations, and display copies for unattended conferences, as needed.
  • Work closely with editorial, sales and marketing, and publicity colleagues and ensure good communication. 
  • Participate in Sales Conferences, Seasonal Launch Meetings, the Weekly Promotion meeting, and other relevant meetings yet to be discovered and initiated. 
  • Offer general support for both the publicity and marketing teams as needed.



  • Timely sharing of main sales tools eg International Seasonal catalogue.
  • Liaison with UPG for printing and shipping international seasonal catalogues to all agents.
  • Schedule calls with all agents early on to discuss new season’s list.
  • Oversight of sales SharePoint for International markets. Creation and distribution of in-house promotional sales pieces
  • Assist agents with marketing needs where needed. Preparation of bookfair shipments, especially for Taipei, Beijing, and Guadalajara.
  • Order chasing with Ingram and Wiley.
  • Data Governance: Customer validation for new accounts across international markets.
  • Regular monthly or bi-monthly check-ins with agents.
  • Quarterly assessment of main territorial turnover with ISD.
  • Regular sharing with agents of bestsellers lists and relevant publicity.



  • Oversee administration of UK sales conferences in the UK office including booking the room, managing refreshments, ensuring catalogues are available.
  • Unpacking of boxes, distribution of books, and removal of packaging.
  • Franking of office post when office administrator is not available.
  • Answering the door when the office administrator is not available.
  • Completing all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.

Position requirements


  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in publishing or similar industry and demonstrated abilities with marketing and sales responsibilities. 
  • Degree from a 4-year university preferred but not required. A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
  • The ability to work a hybrid schedule is required, working in the Oxford office at least 1 day on-site. Specific days are flexible.
  • Must be a proficient user of MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of InDesign, SalesForce, Sharepoint, and Biblio beneficial. Experience with database work preferred.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency across various modes of communication.
  • Capability to interact appropriately and respectfully with others
  • Ability to adapt to changes in workload and to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Capacity to work independently for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to travel to other locations as necessary.
  • Prior publishing experience focused on international marketing and sales preferred.
  • A positive outlook, and proactive and efficient approach to handling tasks in a busy department.

Base Salary: £25,000/year. Starting salary dependent on prior relevant experience.
