The After School Care teacher will work with a group of 9-12 students in Pre-K3- Kindergarten children. The After School Care teacher will ensure the safety of the children as they take them through a schedule of activities that includes: playground time, homework (K4 and K5), arts & crafts, outdoor sports, reading, board games, and more. Work hours are Monday-Friday 2:30-6:00. Must be able to stand continuously for 1-2 hours, including 30 minutes outside. Must be able to lift 10 lbs. This job operates in a professional school environment. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms above the head and reach forward. The operation of our school and After School Care program depends on consistency in showing up and being on time.

Qualifications

  • Provides warm, welcoming presence for the children, parents and co-workers.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience working with children in a structured setting such as a school, childcare facility, church, etc.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Must have organizational skills.
  • Communicates effectively - conveys facts and information clearly in written and spoken communications.
  • Embrace and connect with parents.
  • Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
  • Possess awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities.
