Bennett Thrasher (“BT”) has an opening for a  SALT Senior to provide critical assistance in addressing clients’ state and local tax issues. While the job entails much in the way of building and manipulating Excel models and researching and communicating (both written and orally) about SALT matters, we are ultimately looking for someone who is passionate about tax and passionate about building a truly excellent SALT practice along with us. Must have 2+ years of state and local tax experience.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop effective working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Collaborate with others to provide quality service to clients
  • Communicate professionally with clients under supervision of managers and seniors
  • Translate verbose tax laws and regulations into digestible, client-facing content
  • Research state and local tax laws, regulations, or other authoritative guidance
  • Calculate estimated state tax exposure using Excel
  • Provide accurate research and write technical memorandum in a concise, analytical format
  • Build and maintain positive relationships across the firm
  • Support interns and non-state tax staff in professional development
  • Contribute and support new ideas
  • Maintain open communication with management regarding projects’ progress and deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Senior level knowledge of state taxation
  • Undergraduate degree required, CPA or JD preferred
  • Ideally, intermediate (or greater) skillset with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple engagements simultaneously
