About the Job

As the Vice President of Engineering, you will organize and coordinate the efforts of Delve's engineering departments across our four studios. You will embody, support, and foster Delve's Vision, Mission, and Values. You will balance the desire to develop a unique culture in your department, and across studios, while fully integrating your team into the larger Delve community. You will play a key role in developing the people, culture, and tools to do profitable work for satisfied clients while ensuring our engineering staff feels challenged, rewarded, and respected.

The ideal candidate would live in proximity to one of our 4 studios, but we will consider remote candidates who are open to frequent travel. 

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Lead Delve’s Engineering teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Quality, & Prototyping), aligning goals and objectives with company strategy
  • Foster collaboration across departments, practice areas and studios to enhance the design and development process
  • Monitor and continuously improve Delve’s engineering capabilities and methods to ensure best in class product development for our clients
  • Ensure appropriate engineering support of new business development activities via client meetings, capabilities presentations, project plan development and technical quoting
  • Support Delve’s marketing initiatives by providing Thought Leadership such as authoring blogs, hosting webinars, speaking at conferences, etc.
  • Collaborate with your management team and PMO to monitor and pro-actively address any project concerns to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction
  • Inform the Executive Leadership team of engineering practice area KPI’s and pro-active mitigation activities to address any areas of concern
  • Work with your management team to monitor, forecast, and approve any hiring needs due to bandwidth and/or skillset needs
  • Provide your extended management team with mentoring and career development support to help build our future executive leaders

About You

Requirements 

  • 15+ years managing across a range of engineering disciplines.
  • 10+ years' experience with a multi-disciplinary, human centered design process
  • 8+ years' experience working within consulting firms
  • 5+ years' experience working with medical devices or in healthcare
  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • You have a true passion for leadership and management with demonstrated success leading a large team of managers and technical contributors (ie. 100+ indirect reports).
  • You have lead teams that execute projects under ISO 14971, FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, IEC 62366.
  • You have lead teams that develop software per IEC 62304 and have experience in the creation and execution of software verification and validation protocols and reports. 
  • You bring a multi-disciplinary focus to product design and development, and keenly understand and value the power of a highly collaborative team with diverse backgrounds, training, experiences, and viewpoints.
  • You are a natural collaborator who can effectively facilitate group activities, including in-person and remote work sessions.
  • You are a convincing presenter and engaging storyteller who is comfortable on stage in front of an audience of clients and peers, whether presenting development plans, design work or offering your expert opinion.
  • You can build, manage, and inspire a team across departments and studio locations.
  • You are a thought leader who can build industry awareness and excitement.
  • You clearly communicate both visually and verbally with key internal and external project stakeholders to keep them informed of engineering needs, progress, and any potential obstacles.
  • You are motivated by change, and see the pandemic, social injustice, and our younger generations as meaningful opportunities to adapt how we design and collaborate, and what we deliver.
