Wage band range AM shift $33.00; Saturday and/or Sunday 7a-1p - PM shift $35.00; Saturday and/or Sunday 4p-9p per hour; however, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.

Weekend Shifts: Saturday and Sunday 7a-1p and/or 4p-9p.

Under the direction of the Health Clinic Manager, the LVN/LPT is responsible for medication management for the youth enrolled in Casa Pacifica Programs. The LVN/LPT also treats minor illness and/or injury according to standard orders and protocols. The Licensed Vocation Nurse carries out the mission of Casa Pacifica as it pertains to assisting in providing general care, effective hygiene, and day-to-day care for youth of Casa Pacifica.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities):

  • Cares for the residents and provides medical assistance to each youth.
  • Administers medication to residents following prescribed orders
  • Maintains knowledge about psychotropic medications, their side effects, and contra-indications.
  • Monitors side effects of all medications; communicates with other care givers regarding their observations.
  • Notes orders, re-orders medication, and communicates with pharmacy regarding medication related issues.
  • Educates youth regarding medication, side effects, desired effects, risk of non-compliance.
  • Communicates clearly and in a timely manner with psychiatric providers regarding youth as needed.
  • Identifies youth’s possible need for additional professional medical services, and refers to Community Provider
  • Attends and participates in unit and general staff training programs; attends outside training events and conferences as requested. Meets regularly with Health Services Team for rounds and/or departmental business.
  • Documents all medication administration and nursing interventions using appropriate documentation system.
  • Completes mental health billing in Avatar for STRTP youth.
  • In an emergency, performs first aid and CPR, when necessary. Maintains confidentiality in all matters within the organization with respect to personnel, operations, medical histories and clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and defined by the LVN/LPT Practice Act.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates of Arts degree (AA)
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training.
  • Previous experience using electronic health records experience a plus (Avatar)
  • Strong organizational, communication and follow-through skills.
  • Experience working with Trauma Informed Care (TIC).

CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE:

  • Must have current and valid LVN or LPT license.
