Scholars Unlimited is a community-based non-profit program helping young learners master critical literacy skills. Our mission is to foster academic, social, and emotional growth for children living in metro Denver communities. Our after-school program is geared toward grades K-5 and includes reading, SEL, STEM, and recreation/enrichment components. These programs are educational, engaging, and effective.

 

We are currently recruiting Site Directors for our after-school session during the 2023-2024 school year. Site Directors will be responsible for coordinating Scholars Unlimited school site-based extended learning, enrichment, and family literacy programs at public elementary schools. Scholars Unlimited program will start September 5, 2023, and end May 10, 2024. The program will be held in our partner schools in Northeast Denver, Southwest Denver, Central Denver, North Aurora, Sheridan, and Westminster. Hours of the program will vary with the school's dismissal bell times. Typically the hours may start as early as 2:00 pm and go as late as 6:00 pm. The Site Director position can work up to 4 hrs. per day with a total of 20 hrs. a week. 

 

Responsibilities/ Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Muliti-Site Manager, the Site Director will coordinate, supervise, plan and implement activities for our K-5th grade after school students.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate Scholars Unlimited school site-based extended learning, enrichment, and family literacy programs at public elementary schools, including:

  • Overall program coordination and supervision of afterschool program 

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for youth 

  • Strong ability to perform job duties autonomous

  • Follow child care licensure compliance 

  • Supervise and support staff in programs

  • Substituting at site when necessary 

  • Liaison between Scholars Unlimited and school staff

  • Committed to keeping the integrity of program design 

  • Responsible for care and safety of participants and guests during program hours, maintaining safe environment at all times and notifying supervisor of any hazards/security issues as soon as possible

  • Evaluate and document participant growth and development, relaying information to parents through both oral and written communication when needed 

  • Respond to emergency situations as required and maintain accurate reporting

  • Maintain accurate participant files (medical records, permission slips, etc.)

  • Compose parent letters/information for communication 

  • Maintain stock of necessary supplies

  • Maintain a clean and organized program area

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age, experience or aptitude in running after school programs which include managing staff, educational experience with education, child development, and/or recreation management. Have a current CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration certificates or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire date, must possess all child care licensing certifications within 30 days of hire date.

Background check and fingerprinting required. 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  1. Program coordination skills, including the ability to plan, specify tasks, supervise staff, problem solve, and implement activities.

  2. Knowledge, experience, and expertise in youth development, behavior management, and enrichment programs.

  3. Communication skills, including written, verbal and strong interpersonal skills.

  4. Attention to detail and ability to maintain records.

  5. Ability to follow protocol and adhere to program and external procedures.

  6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision.

  7. Ability to work with diverse populations and experience in working with children.

  8. The Spanish language is highly desirable.

  9. Strong computer skills (Office and data entry skills)

  10. BA or BS Degree preferred

Compensation: $23.00/hr.
