Scholars Unlimited is a community-based non-profit program helping young learners master critical literacy skills.  Our mission is to foster academic, social, and emotional growth for children living in metro Denver communities. Our after-school program is geared toward grades K-5 and includes reading, SEL, STEM, and recreation/enrichment components. These programs are educational, engaging, and effective.

 

 

We are currently recruiting Aides  for our after-school session during the 2023-2024 school year. Our Afterschool Aides will work with students at our partner school sites to help our YDI and/or our Academic Specialists deliver high quality programs. Scholars Unlimited's program will start September 5, 2023, and end May 10, 2024. The program will be held in our partner schools in Northeast Denver, Southwest Denver, Central Denver, North Aurora, Sheridan, and Westminster. Hours of the program will vary with the school's dismissal bell times. Typically the hours may start as early as 2:00 pm and go as late as 6:00 pm. The aide position can work up to 3 hrs. per day with a total of 15 hrs. a week. 

 

Responsibilities/ Qualifications

Under the supervision of the Site Director and/or Multi Site Manager, Aides will help our staff promote and deliver quality programs to our K-5th grade after school students. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Help our staff set-up, clean up and prepare for the lesson plans and activities for program participants

  • Assist with planning and leading activities for small groups of up to 15 students

  • Assist with computer instruction with Lexia and/or Amira, our online reading programs

  • Assist with SEL instruction 

  • Help coordinate daily enrichment activities

  • Help serve as a role model for students

  • Provide safe, and quality, care to students

  • Comply with Division of Early Childcare and Learning Licensing Rules and Regulations

  • Communicate with Scholars Unlimited staff and Site Director

  • Help manage tasks for  students in cafeteria, classrooms, gym and other area in the school, as well as off-site centers and field trips

  • Attend all trainings and staff meetings

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a minimum of 16 years of age, have an interest in working with youth. Must be able to complete/attend all paid pieces of training within 30 days of hire date.

Background check and fingerprinting required. 

Desired Skills and Ability: 

  • Able to work scheduled program hours

  • Have reliable transportation

  • Ability to work with K-5th grade students

  • In good standing with Scholars Unlimited

Compensation: $17.29/hr.
