About Distance Education:
Distance Education provides an entirely asynchronous, online learning experience that adapts to the unique circumstances of each student. The Opportunity:
Unity Environmental University seeks enthusiastic individuals to serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support the development of courses within the disciplinary landscape of Regenerative Food Systems. Courses may include Culinary Arts, Public Health Nutrition, Farm to Table Value Chains, Nature-Based Solutions & Payments for Ecosystem Services, Equitable Food Value Chains, Fiber Science: Life Cycle Assessment of Different Fibers, Principles of Food Processing, Preservation, and Packaging Technologies, Alternative Proteins & Sustainable Diets, Planned Holistic Grazing, Farm-Based Carbon and GHG Accounting, Rebuilding the Foodshed: The Mechanics of Regional Food Systems, Fashion Design for Sustainability, Food Product Development, Testing and Ingredient Functionality among others.SMEs work closely within a team setting consisting of an Academic Dean, a Learning Experience Designer, and the Director of Sustainable Food Systems to advise on and develop curricula.

Qualifications

Do you have the skills?

  • An advanced degree (Master’s minimum) in a field related to sustainable food systems with significant professional experience.
  • Knowledge of or experience within at least 5 of the following areas:
    • Nutrition science
    • Dietary assessment
    • Public health principles
    • Supply chain management
    • Food distribution logistics
    • Fair trade practices
    • Food processing techniques
    • Packaging technology
    • Plant-based and alternative protein sources
    • Sustainable diet planning
    • Nutritional analysis
    • Sustainable livestock management
    • Grazing planning and rotational systems
    • Regional food systems design
    • Local food policy knowledge
    • Community engagement in food systems
    • Eco-friendly material selection
    • Product development processes
    • Food testing methodologies
    • Ingredient functionality in food products
  • Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
  • Experience with online teaching and/or distance learners is desirable.
  • Personal commitment to the environmental focus and mission of the University.

The Location:
Unity Environmental University's Distance Education curriculum is 100% online. Our Distance Education Adjuncts will teach remotely.
