Insights Arts Specialist

The American Printing House for the Blind (APH), a world leader in creating learning solutions and pathways to success for children and adults who are blind or low vision, is seeking an InSights Art Specialist. Reporting to the APH Museum Director, the InSights Art Specialist will support the InSights Art Program and the Factory and Museum Tour Program, in the Impact and Outreach Department.


  • Support the InSights Art team through intradepartmental and interdepartmental collaborative planning for the promotion of the program.
  • Perform data entry and expansion of the current databases, including financial processing for payments to artists, judges, and exhibit consumers.
  • Maintain correspondence with artists, teachers, and art program leaders.
  • Guide the preparation and setup of the first in-person exhibit in the last two years, including protective packaging and shipping of fragile artworks, and collaborative planning and execution of InSights traveling exhibits.
  • Assist with the InSights Art Calendar production as well as other merchandise featuring Insights artworks for interdepartmental use.
  • Assist in Museum outreach efforts, including support for the advisory committees as needed.
  • Maintain a calendar of events and activities in the Louisville region and provide support and coordination for APH participation in selected activities.
  • Work closely with Development’s Louisville team and the Community Relations Advisor on their efforts to raise APH’s profile within the local community by planning, executing, and attending events outside of regular workhours, incorporating InSights Art elements when appropriate.
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed.


  • Associate degree or two or more years of college in a related field required.
  • Ability to learn facts and figures related to APH and feel comfortable presenting information to both school age and adult groups.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to conduct at least one 90-minute tour each day.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Proficient typing skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Access, Excel, and Power Point or similar computer programs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. and handle artwork, push carts, and other equipment.
